I think Demonology came to the attention of most people in the SciFi Channel's recurring series, "GhostHunters".

The Team originally traveled (sometimes) w/ a Catholic Priest who was a Demonologist and an Exorcist and he would attend certain cases--where they concluded that a malevolent presence was to blame for the disturbance and he would exorcise said presence.

NegativeEnergyElementals can be very scary for any who are unschooled in how best to deal with them.
