When I see G-d or God written in text, I almost always replace it with how the word was pronounced 'sort of' in Hebrew, and that is Elohim.

In Genesis 1:1, that scriptures reads as: "In the beginning, God [Elohim] created the Heaven[s] and Earth."

          In Hebrew, God [Elohim] is written like this:

     


        The word is pronounced something like ’ĕ·lō·hîm.
