Yeah they do, but before they are able to, they need to master "channeling" techniques. In the beginning there are exercises. They need to master these "psychic" methods before they can "connect at will", that is, using the "mind" as you call it.
In the end, even the mind is a hollow type of thing. Only the contours are visible, akin to having an "x-ray" vision in perceiving it, or something.
