About "Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional" -- Dalai Lama
You have to discuss it further with Dalai.
Here is my interpretation of his words of wisdom.
Pain is inevitable which means that all of us encounter/experience pain in our lives.
I agree with Mr. Lama.
We all experience pain in our lives.
Do you know anyone who has not?
Suffering is optional which means that we have a choice on how to react to those inevitable pain.
I understand reacting with sadness, anger, fear, and etc. But these are honest human expressions and emotions.
But suffering is a self determined act.
I am just saying.
