It sounds pretty alright to me. It's also been said to quiet the mind and thus have touch stone for well-being. To help one release thoughts to find a more natural state of well-being. But again, the quieting of mind is simply for the purpose of being more able of enjoying the moment, just as it is, to reach the state where you are simply content/satisfied with what is. And live from that state of natural well-being and enjoy life. As enlightenment is simply the result of enjoying life more unconditionally, from within so too from without. By simply being true to yourself, meaning, to simply enjoy being yourself. As joy is really the indicator of being in alignment with yourself and your natural state of well-being. But is again also the result of being more ofen in a state of contentment. Then this contentment naturally allows more enjoyment of life to occur and be realised, naturally and effortlessly. And enlightenment is really the releasing of resistant self contradictory thought patterns. When those are released, contentment is the natural result that follows, if it is allowed. And then this allowing of contentment expands in more often joyful occurences in and of life. Which is a further allowed relief of/release of resistant self contradictory energy in motional/emotional thought patterns that are indicators of the energy motional state of mind/body/degree of allowed natural life/well-being

The soul is always in that pure state of joy/bliss. Of which we are an inseperable extension. That is why we always feel our energy motional/emotional relativity to our true inner being that is our inseperable extension of Source Consciousness. Hence we always feel our energy motional/emotioanl relativity to it.
Then meditating, and releasing self contradictory thoughts, and witnessing the energymotional/emotional relief that comes with that more allowing of a higher degree of more fully allowed alignment with our soul/well-being/joy/life force/trueself/bliss/greater non-physical consciousness that always holds our true self for us inseperably from us, allows one to experience how effortless it is to be in a state of unconditional allowed ease/contentment/joy/natural well-being/satisfaction/enlightenment. That the more it is allowed, the more it is and will be and become evermore naturally and effortlessly, under any and all conditions regardless of any and all conditions, as God Source/Infinite Intelligence is omni-present always here and now for us, with us, through us, as us, by virtue of allowing the conscious mind to enjoy the awareness of its own beingness, regardless of any and all conditions, where ever whatever however. It doesn't matter what who how or when or why. Simply meditate to become naturally who you are.

Endless many different ways of saying it, how or why.

So meditation does require one to focus on something neutral or general in essence, non-interesting, like a consistent sound, or a mantra that is a sound which means nothing, anything that has no resistance attached to it, in order to quiet the mind in order to release energetically resistant thought patterns that are the only thing that does not allow the natural well-being/joy/contentment/bliss/peace to be realised from within, so too, from without. One can even count the breaths to help with focus. As focusing and placing the awareness upon this, and when distracted, gently replacing the awareness on this, eventually causes the mind to enter a relaxed state of well-being and this can be felt emotionally. From this relaxed state of well-being one naturally has more acces to more joy, as this is a natural result or by-product of entering/allowing/allowing the natural receiving of your natural state of well-being and and thoughts of well-being in alignment with your innerbeing/soul/greater non-physical consciousness/greater knowing, of which we are an inseperable extension, thus we can always feel our energy motional/emotional relativity to it, as our greater/lesser allowed alignment with it. From this state of allowed alignment, as one cannot do anything in order to allow the alignment which results in contentment and joy, then content and joy naturally is allowed to occur naturally in once life when it is no longer interfered or disallowed by habbitual thought patterns of discordance/resistance/selfcontradiction that would feel like negative emotion. When those are no longer present ,well-being is the natural occurence.

If one really finds it difficult to quiet the mind, or focus, a very good idea and thing to do, is to simply meditate exactly upon awakening. Here your mind has the highest probability of reaching that pure state of aligned/allowed/received joy with soul/innerbeing/true natural self.

And if that is also hard to do, then simply setting time aside to find gentle pleasant/pleasurable/soothing thoughts of well-being. To help one focus on this and thus release/leave behind any self contradictory thought patterns in that more easy and gentle and enjoyable way. To allow for a touch stone for once own natural state of well-being/contentment/joy.

Opening a candle and enjoying a candle. And maintaining the awareness of this. Whatever you feel inspired to do. If you go in to it with the intention of simply relaxing and enjoy yourself being in the moment, then the natural flow well-being can simply effortlessly be allowed.

Once this becomes a common practice, then one will begin to really feel removed from any habbitually practiced patterns of discord in ones life. Life becomes way easier and more enjoyable and fun. As the discord becomes no longer a relevance or a part of your life and this may feel like very different. But when daily meditation/relaxation is there, then this corner stone of well-being is always there available for the more fully allowing of it. Or re-establishing the naturally greater more fully allowing of it. Regardless of whatever life may be like for you. You can simply enjoy life more fully/unconditionally at all times. By simply using meditation as a tool to allow your well-being more fully in whatever way for whatever reason.

The great thing about meditation is that it is universally applicable and beneficial and practical tool of application for the releasing of any negative habbitual patterns that may be present in ones life. And also of strengthening/stabilizing a more consistent joyful life experience. And that's what makes meditation such a simple and universal and effective tool/technique for any and all who may wish to use it and/or benefit from it. On the whole spectrum of most of all states of being. And you can simply let/allow medtiation to be whatever you want it to be. For it is really for the purpose of enjoying being who you truely already are. So whenever however wherever. It's all good. But ofcourse, I woulden't recommend meditating in potentially dangerous situations, like driving a car or operating a vehicle. Better to meditate prior to do such a thing, also allows oneself to flow more naturally through traffic and also flow more inspired action that always results in natural benefits and enjoyable experience in once life.
