Of videos – I watched this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPiKAhhEHXA

From 2:37 to 4:12
The Saami bloke sitting in the middle of his herd reminded me of the bloke doing 'the trust technique' with the horses.
And yes. If ‘you’ go up North all ‘worldly and sophisticated’ intent on ‘cappuccino conversation’ with the Saami about ‘indigenousness’ …
If they are not in tourism business, they will look at you as if you were a some kind of ‘space alien’ heh.

And about the clothing Gákti: (video 9:22 – 10:02)
Whilst I do have a few distant Norwegian cousins, these are a little bit closer relatives’ gákti, with a cousin in the pic:

Then moving further into our “Russian” side of things … a gákti posted by a cousin:

But I wouldn’t dream of wearing one, unless I totally (re)-integrated and lived with the group.
So whilst this gákti is an important identifier, it cannot make one a Saami, but I guess, if one is an urban indigenous – disconnected from the rest of the culture then this ‘form-reality’ becomes the thing to cling to.

Just a side note … Video 10:58 – 11:40:
In my language the word for “world” is "earth/air-space" … literally. Which I assume comes from the old animist view of perceiving matter and spirit simultaneously.
Form and formlessness – simultaneously.
The indivisibility of space and form.
Whereas the Western “white” mode of perception mainly focuses on form reality (only).
For us the space holds far more information than the manifest form reality.
