The idea that we are in control gives us a sense of security and certainty in our lives.

And yet we have very little control over most aspects of our lives. We may think we have life sorted but then something happens and the rug is pulled out from under our feet. Which leaves us feeling powerless. We can see this every time there is a natural disaster.

Maybe the sense of being truly powerful does not come from having everything under control but rather from being comfortable with uncertainty. We do all we can and then the rest is out of our control. We can only allow things to turn out as they will.
