As to your question, I've been a huge fan of Robert Monroe for years. His second and third OOBE books, Far Journeys and Ultimate Journey are some of my favorite re-readables of all time. A few years back I had the pleasure of going to a week-long Gateway program at the Monroe Institute. I had a blast! It was an incredibly loving, spiritual, healing experience for all involved and it was very difficult to leave at the end. I then proceeded to wear my hemi-sync CDs out completely, and no longer seem to need meditational assistance, but they are excellent. You may not achieve instant OOBE results with them, but if they can teach you to enter a lovely meditative trance, that's all you really need to start practicing OBEs anyway.
