Well done for your wanting to spread love and light. I too am trying to do the same in this often cruel world. A book I can highly recommend is one called "Inner Medicine" by James Barton. This book addresses the root cause of problems in the world today, the character of individuals. It contains new discoveries about the virtues including practical inner exercises to heal character.
