What are your experiences with scrying and gazing?

I have recently been having some trouble with both of these. I think my house ghost is not wanting me to do these anymore because every time I try either, the images I get are of the same man giving the same scornful "you shouldn't be doing this" stare. It's rather annoying.

How do I cleans a scrying glass (mirror), also? I bought one recently but I'm afraid to use it because my brother stuck his grubby little palms all over it and now I feel a completely different energy from it so I need to start over. :/
