What is meant by Navaratri?
 
Navaratri is a Hindu festival which is dedicated to the worship of the Hindu deity Durga. Navaratri generally known as the 'nine nights' in Sanskrit which means nava nine and ratri meaning nights. This is considered to be one of the most celebrated festivals in India. Navaratri lasts upto 10 day.On the 10th day it is celebrated as vijayadhasami or Dussehra.

Navaratri is mostly celebrated in India, Nepal. Diwali is celebrated Twenty days after Dussehra. The dates of the festival is considered by the lunar calender. On Navaratri each women follow tradition to wear nine colors of dress on Navaratri.


The Shardiya Navaratri of the month of Puratashi is consider to be the most famous. The Navaratri also considered as the start of the new year as per the Hindu mythological lunar calendar
