Female enlightened master Rajini Menon on attaining enlightenment by virtuous conduct
An insightful article on female enlightened master Rajini Menon attaining enlightenment just through adhering to virtuous conduct and behavior.
https://www.lifepositive.com/a-light-unto-herself/ If you do right, irrespective of what the other does, it will slow down the mind. - Rajini Menon Swami Satchidananda also states in this regard.... “When even one virtue becomes our nature, the mind becomes clean and tranquil. Then there is no need to practice meditation; we will automatically be meditating always.” - Swami Satchidananda I would say this showcases the importance of virtues and virtuous conduct as taught in the world religions and secular humanism, and shows that they are not limited to mere conditioning as nihilism believes them to be. Sound adherence to morals and ethical conduct can even enable an agnostic or nontheist to attain enlightenment, without spirituality or religions or spiritual masters, as is the case with Rajini Menon. |
Fascinating and inspiring.
My unsolicited input is it may be because of our many lives; she was ready after lives spent in spiritual pursuits. :hug3: I have read that many times. Cuz, I certainly can not account for the grace that has given me enormous Divine Insights... I haven't done that much to 'deserve' them. Ha! Some past lives?, ♫ 'I must have done something good...'♫ |
enlightenment without spirituality ...
Quote:
It could be true to some extent depending on the goal. Nobody is 100% materialist or 100% spiritualist in the life . By compulsion 6-8 hours of sleep 25 to 33% of life is compulsory sleep . God demonstrate the spiritual bliss (of having nothing , being nothing , yet energizing and discharging fatigue etc) by way of forced sleep to every body , During awake hour at almost 40-50% almost material for almost every person . Now the challenge lies in the balance hours how person uses that time . God expect the man uses his/her free will granted to man to discover the joys experienced in sleep in the awake state. He/she may use meditation / good books / cultivated habits /company of good people / social pressures to lead a moral/ethical life . That is certainly possible . However unless the person is a soul blessed with spirituality from past life (which people rarely know) , enlightenment without spirituality or religion may be very difficult. |
Here is an interesting conversation between the female enlightened sage Anandamayi Ma and a disciple...
Question: Suppose an atheist lives an ethical and righteous life. Is he on a lower level than a faithful devotee? Ma Anandamayi : An ethical life purifies the mind. Even though one may have no faith in God, if one believes in some Superior Power or pursues a high ideal, this also will serve one's purpose. By living an ethical life, one progresses towards the realization of the Divine. Through this Anandamayi Ma too, like Rajini Menon, states that an ethical and virtuous life, is a spiritual exercise in itself and is potent enough to bring about enlightenment on its own. This is in stark contrast to half-baked philosophies like nihilism and existentialism of recent times, which states that all values and virtues are abstractly contrived and have no relevance of their own. |

Thank you for sharing this, ajay00 This part makes me feel sad: I feel the only worthwhile thing for me to do is to guide sincere seekers. That gives me the greatest satisfaction. However, there are few sincere seekers. Janaka said after getting enlightened by Ashtavakra. “Why are there not more Ashtavakras?” Ashtavakra said, “The shortage is not of Ashtavakras but of Janakas.” In all these years, I have understood that. I used to think that even if a mad elephant was rushing towards me, I would answer the questions of a spiritual aspirant. But there are few true seekers. Thank you again for sharing, JL |

Hey, you are welcome Janielee. Nice point you got there. Hope you become a Janaka or ideal student yourself and become enlightened one day. Notice that Janaka rhymes with your name as well ! |
Thanks ajay00
The question is: what then? Bless, JL |

Being enlightened is the greatest service you can give to the world as per Ramana Maharshi. After getting enlightened, you can enjoy the bliss and peace of your natural state without any cessation. Also the positive vibes flowing from you will enable others around you to meditate or adhere to virtous conduct easily. The enlightened one is also a source of auspiciousness wherever he or she goes. In a village next to mine, there lived a female enlightened master in the last century. This region, in comparison to other regions have a very low crime rate and low incidence of natural disasters which people attribute to the master's grace. Even now one can still feel the positive vibes and auspiciousness over this place and it is now a tourist site as well. Many people even now talk about the master's miracles and her command over natural phenomena. |
Thanks, ajay
