Two Words

Imagine if all religious texts consisted of only two words:

Be kind.

Do you think history would be different? Would our lives be better, worse or the same?

Would we still insist upon misinterpretation, 'false kind', 'true kind' and so on?

Would there still be wars in the name of religion?

Would it even be accepted for what it is?

Over to you...

Interesting question! Genius.

I doubt anybody would take it seriously....lol.

Also there is always the danger that the accusations of "you are unkind" would start. But would it start any wars?

There is also "cruel to be kind" etc. I am sure people would slowly trash the religious texts of "Be Kind".

Cruel to be kind - I hadn't thought of that. Now there's a whole can of worms!

Yes, there would be forums set up to discuss the meaning of kindness. With petty bickering and arguments.

I'm sure it wouldn't be long before nations were fighting each other because their kindness was better/more than other countries.

With medals of honour to the soldiers who fought on the side of the 'kindest country'. Medals of true (or would that be True?) kindness for those kind enough to blow up their neighbours all in the name of kindness.

It's farcical really when you think about it, isn't it?

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

The core belief sounds great but implementation would be another thing.

I can see myself ending up in front of the Hierophant almost every time I would turn around.

Just to say....I doubt anybody would take the religious text seriously. Not this thread.

If you had been living on an island for the last 40 years with no religious teachings or background,
would you not expect such a simple text to be novel?

I suppose it depends on the simplicity of the island life. I would hope that I'd not need the religious text - I'd be naturally kind.

It's fascinating thinking about how two basic words have the potential to become a monster. Be kind to who/what? How? Where do we drawn the line between kindness/unkindness?

I'm sure it would become as hotly debated as our existing religious texts do.

Perhaps that tells us something more about ourselves than what is written...?

I think you have something......... something for me to meditate on.
