Effect of Smoking on Chakras

I've heard that smoking negatively impacts all chakras - is this true? I have been a smoker for about six years and have always found it extremely hard to keep myself balanced. I feel that in the near future, I will be ready to quit smoking and begin living a healthier lifestyle. Does anyone know what I can expect once I quit? Any advice, personal experiences, etc would be greatly appreciated!

Smoking won't affect your chakras directly - more indirectly as it is a distractor from life.

Mindfulnes will help your balance, a slowing down and a moment or two to breathe in the day. Also, ground ground ground!

In terms of the spiritual, I've heard smoking referred to as a method of emotional numbing. I guess something to keep in the back of your mind.

It lowers your overall energy vibration, so in a way it does impact your chakras. Most likely the throat and heart chakras. In a book I read it said that smoking is a way to see the world/reality in a unclear way. Not wanting to face or see the reality of our life for what it really is, it is also a way to not take in life.

Perhaps once you stop you will see life in a different and positive way.

All of the above makes sense. Thanks for the input!

Once you quit, you should feel your yin chi restored. Smoking has a negative effect on the body both spiritual and physical. Smoking produces a lot of yang chi and depletes yin chi. This will result in cancer (due to a dying yin trying to deplete an overstimulated yang). I hope this answers your question.

In my experience and observation, Smoking does 2 things to your energy system:

1) Weakens your Solar Plexus chakra
2) Opens your 3rd eye

In the short term it can give you more insights and openness and actually help to develop your psychic powers. If used for prolonged periods (more than once a week I think - haven't experimented a great deal with timing) then the effects of a weakened solar plexus will build up.

With a weakened Solar Plexus physical energy moves slower throughout the body creating a more 'heavy' system. Number of blockages increase, amount of 'grey clouds' surrounding the body will thus increase as well. A person's aura may look 'washed out'. It will be more difficult for a person to concentrate, there will be less success in physical pursuits and less satisfaction and joy in general.

While in this fugue, smoking a cigarette will open the 3rd eye wide, granting feelings of elation and what feels like a 'spiritual high' as energies from above come down in a rush to fill your body - but quickly the heaviness will return even greater.

Another VERY important factor to consider is that there is tension when smoking - because society has implanted a deep notion of 'smoking is bad'. So when you smoke, you think 'this is bad', creating TENSION in your mind and body. All tensions, big and small, affect your energy. A small tension over long periods of time is WORSE than a big, immediate tension. This small tension of 'I am doing something I know is wrong' will generally build up in a person's shoulders.

I see smoking or anything we are addicted to -which can be something as small as checking our facebook or text messages constantly- as escapes from thought. I dont know how much you have explored the idea that thought causes suffering but suffice to say it does. If this is true then when whether we are aware of it or not we are going to be trying to escape from thought. We can do this the proper way, through meditation, or we can do this by escaping, using smoking, drugs, sex, exercise, eating, or other means to escape from our thoughts.

Most of us have a tendency to take the escape route. The way to change this tendency is to figure out the true way to deal with thoughts, through meditation, which is the act of being aware of the thought in your mind at the present moment is a thought, which in turn makes the thought loses its power. The repetition of this act slows down thoughts and in turn slows down the need to escape from thoughts.

In my experince I can say that yes smoking is a way of escaping from the situation or energy. Because some people are very sensitive, even too sensitive, they are like sponges, they take everything up. And its so hard to balance yourself when you dont know how to do it. But as the person get more and more involved with the spiritual world and awakens the body tries to balance itself and lessens the need for the cigarette. So later on, you can quit easily. Meditation, breating exercises, yoga etc.
