Jesus helps us according to what we ask of Him.

I think Jesus mentioned that He gives us what we ask for. I ask that He is the Messiah for me and saves me from my sins and takes me back to God's world. Others from what I gather would prefer to reach enlightenment and approach Him for that.

I think Jesus is so powerful that He can be many different things to different people. I treat Him as the Son of God and the Messiah. I believe He died to save us. Others see Him differently. He will be what you want Him to be.

Indeed, this is a beautiful peace Honza. I believe everything you've said about Jesus. To me he's an empowerer, a warrior, a life saver and indeed does give me what I ask for (so long as it's good). He has so much power!

Jesus said this ,(John 9:31 Now we know that God hear not sinners: but if any man be a worshiper of God, and do his will, him he hear) and this (John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you). Jesus CLEARLY said that it's his Father who we need to ask IN Jesus name. Jesus also told MANY that it's GOD, who hears the prayers of those who "WORSHIPS" him.

true! Jesus was SENT by his Father... to bring any who wants it, to salvation. but it's Jesus FATHER, who he taught ALL must pray to ,(Matt. 6: 9-15 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name....). as you stated, Jesus is the "SON of GOD." so he knows who we should pray to and rely on. and he would NEVER try to take the Honor, and Glory from his Father ,(John 13:16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him).

Jesus words are NOT HIS! all that Jesus say to us, is what Jehovah God wants him to say ,(John 14:24 He that love me not keep not my sayings: and the word which you hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me). so it's NOT Jesus who gives those who does his Father's WILL, his spiritual family, (Mark 3:35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother), what they ask for, but his Father Jehovah God. peace

2-3 sentences in quotes only, as Admin has asked for months now.
We are beginning to just delete the post for those that know this, but ignore the Admins.
Nothing personal.

".....for your Father knows what you need before you ask him"

Do we always know what we need?

"In true obedience there should be no ‘I want this or that to happen’ or ‘I want this or that thing’ but only a pure going out of what is our own" (Meister Eckhart, from his "Talks of Instruction", On True Obedience)

I'm truly not playing a game of "one upmanship".... It's simply that I have found I am not master of my own fate, that often we are "saved" (or whatever we wish to call it) in spite of our beliefs rather than because of them.

This is what is true…..we can only be saved from predicaments that we find ourselves in….ignorance is always the cause….either false beliefs or carelessness on our part….in the end we must hope to be “forgiven(saved) for not knowing what we do”

I have a slightly different slant on this. Why I see and experience a total difference between faith and belief. Time and time again I observe those totally confident in their beliefs - those who give every impression of equating correct belief with salvation itself. The transaction has been made - believe this and salvation follows.

In a pulpit one who states explicitly that only the theology he subscribes to is correct, all others false, and stating that only those who so subscribe to it could call God "Father". The man I told of before, who after over 30 years of "knowing Christ" yet saw another human being being turned into a vegetable as a "judgement of God". Another occasion, of a sermon given in a hospital ward, a ward filled with many people flat out, tubes running in and out of them......a sermon that began with the words:-" People say they don't believe in hell but Jesus spoke more about hell than he did about heaven. "

I no longer relate all this from bitterness or hurt, but simply to support my claim that sometimes we have no idea of "the predicament" we are in. Those people spoken of see no "predicament" at all. They eagerly await their "reward" when in the "twinkling of an eye" they will be made residents of heaven (even though their theology might well include the claim that God does not want robots and thus could not have created us incapable of sin)

Such people, and there are many, in fact trust themselves far more than God. They are virtually faithless from a Pure Land perspective.

If I am judged as "judging" them, so be it.

I should not have said false beliefs….there might not be such a thing as correct beliefs….faith and belief are 2 entirely different concepts…beliefs are limited by what we can know….there are no limits on faith……

Finally someone else that separates faith from beliefs...tho, I have not heard it put this way before --interesting, Mo.
Oh, sorry, I see Cobbler does, also!
