Can quietness be nasty?

My impression of the great I AM and meditation is that it can turn quietness and silence quite nasty. Imagine a huge force field which surrounds earth which is comprised of utter silence, but that silence has no benevolent qualities what so ever.

Is there such a thing as good quietness or malevolent quietness? Hindus describe God as neutral. Neither good nor bad - just perfect. Is that neutral silence in fact malevolent?

could it be you are tapping into the isolation of it? and that in itself is a then prison?

I have practiced such silence in the beach, and found that it helped me to see the beauty of nature and the sunsets better .

Usually, indulgence in narratives, thoughts and emotions prevent me from such observation.

Nondual perception brought about by meditation helped to bring about 'neutral silence' as you state and reduce the mental noise. I consider it good for my mental health.

'Malevolent quietness' can be termed as physical silence coupled with an overactive mental process that does not cease at will, and ignores the flowers, waves and sunsets.

I agree with others . Quietness accompanied by bliss , peace , harmony ,energy , empathy is always benevolent . I do recognize sometimes the quietness comes with unease , worries , helplessness etc and that in my opinion is just surreal quietness and may be malevolent also .

Further God may appear neutral but He has a slight bend towards positivity & goodness just like aircraft may look horizontal when in flight mode but its actually slightly facing towards sky .

Well, my comment would be: ''Then, that isn't real silence or quietness or stillness, is it?
What it is is a place filled with unease, worry and helplessness, etc."
I mean, c'mon. It's a place of the the lower ego self...and all it's chatter, effecting
emotions...the unwanted feelings that the ego loves!

I have also had this experience, but it was that my early meditation and spiritual teachers did not recognize the value and importance of always first invoking full and proper spiritual protection against the Beings existing in and traversing the lesser-lower, dark and evil realms, octaves and dimensions.

I don't know about God being 'neutral' -- but, I think that as soon as we (Human Beings) think 'perfect' then our mind tells us (truthfully or falsely) that there also must be 'imperfect' (duality consciousness). Oneness does not mean 'neutral' but it does mean 'no opposition'.

Miss Hepburn, if you consider that we are 'sitting with God' in this silence, quietness and stillness, then, when we need to heal from grief, loss, fear, or anything else that needs healing within our own psyche and Soul, then, in His Silence, Quietness and Stillness, God will be Helping us to get in touch with that which is too painful for us to deal with by ourselves. So, with God, when we are humble enough, we can feel uneasy and worried and helpless...and, in our humility -- and this disquiet and unease -- we can STILL ask God for Help for our healing. It can work like that, and it's not just the lesser-lower ego, but the Higher Self or Soul seeking help for healing and to be made Whole.

I get what you are saying, I do. :)

Still, I will stick with: Feelings like the bolded above are not coming from MY Higher Self.
(What I mean is - Joy, freedom, love, profound wisdom, compassion and contentment, laughter come from my Higher Self.)
