What does spirituality mean to you?

Otherworldly individuals look basically the same as the average citizens and henceforth hard to be recognized. They are typically not wearing white, blue, or ochre dresses. They don't really keep facial hair or shave their heads. They don't live in timberland, caves, or in the Himalayas. They live around you yet you neglect to distinguish them. You are frequently tricked by the appearance and get caught by the cheats who guarantee to be profound individuals.

Nonetheless, it isn't exceptionally hard to distinguish the genuinely profound individuals. You can without much of a stretch distinguish profound individuals by recognizing these a part of their characters.

1. Cooperative energy among Words and Action

The activities of an otherworldly individual are consistently incongruity with his words. He talks just about what he genuinely accepts. A great many people lecture balance, yet they treat themselves as better than others. While they might request that individuals have a straightforward existence, they, when all is said and done, live in palatial houses and wear costly garments and trimmings. An otherworldly individual remains silent which is unfeasible. He shows the practicability of his standards by following the words verbally expressed by him.

2. Self-Realization

One needs to make a qualification between a researcher and an otherworldly individual. Any individual with great memory can recollect each expression of a sacred text and demonstrate anything by the strength of rationale. A researcher consistently upholds his contentions with some reference to others' examinations or sacred writings. Nonetheless, a profound individual is a self-acknowledged one whose information has risen up out of inside. Along these lines, he, rather than 'having information', has 'become information' as his persona has gotten one with God. In this way, his clarifications arise straightforwardly from his spirit and persuade individuals instead of requesting that individuals get persuaded on the grounds that somebody has said as much, or something is written in a sacred text or some investigation has demonstrated something.

3. Harmony

An otherworldly individual is one whose spirit has gotten one with God. In this manner he knows the world from a lot more extensive viewpoint. His psyche finds a sense of contentment like the water in the profundity of an ocean. He realizes that all that occurs on the planet has some rationale in it. He can know the circumstances and logical results through his instinct. Consequently he is consistently settled and doesn't feel upset by the ordinary things of the world, which resemble waves on the outside of a sea.

4. Lack of interest to Physical Appearance

Otherworldliness is integral to realism actually like soul is reciprocal to body. One who centers around body alone can't zero in on soul. So a profound individual is not interested in the actual appearance of himself as well as other people. He doesn't recognize an individual from his outside appearance yet distinguishes him from his spirit. Henceforth, if an individual wears originator garments and spotlights on being genuinely appealing, he has least shots at being profound. It is nothing unexpected that most otherworldly individuals keep facial hair which really covers the actual appeal of the body.

5. Genuinely Loving

Love is the main trait of an otherworldly individual. He doesn't loathe anybody including the hoodlums and psychological oppressors. It might sound peculiar and difficult to a customary man however not to the otherworldly individual. Similarly as we as a whole like everything about ourselves including our not really amazing body, similarly, for a profound individual there is no inclination of 'other'. So he can distinguish even with his foes.

"Spirituality" is a word that I do not like.

Just the word? Being aware that there is a spirit world or spirits or A Spirit.
Pertaining to the spiritual realm - the unseen world.

What does humanity mean to me? Pertaining to humans, from earth.
Like that. Nothing lofty or poetic ---just that.

My answer to topic title: Spirituality is the relation of self to non-self. Being spiritual is the pursuit of living that truth of spirituality.

Though the listed attributes are common among spiritual seekers from large organized religions and philosophies; they are just that, common. Spirituality is a personal journey and leads to ones inner nature, not some behaviors or particular outlooks.

The problem with implying that all one need do is to look for some attributes to see if someone is spiritual is that those less spiritual are unable to recognize those more self realized. This is true of any discipline requiring some kind of development. For instance take any grade schooler and ask them which of several math text books are more advanced than high school level. Chances are they have no idea.

Wonderful . You described the traits of real spiritual people in better words for the reader so that people do not get duped by wrong / fake spiritual people .
Here are some more traits of real spiritual people

1. They are real (see things as it is ) yet very positive when it comes to giving benefit of doubt or to the future possibilities or treating others well.
2. They are action oriented also besides being thoughtful .
3. They are seeker on the path meaning pursue progressive path of continuous learning and advancement.
4. They are also highly intelligent .
5. They are helpful to people from where they are and at the time they need.

Of course we can write many more on this . But this comes to my mind immediately in addition to what u said.

Hitoshi Shah,

Thanks for your list….it gave many points to consider. I pondered compiling a similar list. What occurred to me, as a Christian, is simply to suggest that the Beatitudes of Christ seem to encapsulate it for me in many ways. For those not familiar they appear in Matthew 5:3-11.

As with any list I subconsciously give pre-eminence to the first one. It is “Blessed are the poor in spirit…”. While it is said that ‘nature abhors a vacuum’ conversely it can be said that ‘spirit abhors fullness’ meaning we must carve out a void within ourselves that allows and welcomes the spirit. This is not a void to be filled or that can be filled because of the infinite nature of spirit. Just as the teacher appears when the student is ready, the spirit appears when the soul is ready.

Without going through all of the Beatitudes, I would call attention to the third one…”Blessed are the meek”. As a Christian, humility is a big deal to me. IMO anyone that has had an experience of the divine must necessarily be humble. ‘God gives grace to the humble’(various verses). And having the Spirit is a grace. Some have said, contrary to what we might assume, that the meek are generally the most courageous, since those who carry no resentment against others are not afraid of anyone.

In real life pay special attention to people that give undivided attention to others. Perhaps attention is the purest sign of love and, thus, might be the greatest gift that one can bestow. In short, if I was to attempt to identify a spiritual person I would especially notice if they were humble and if they give complete attention to others.

You brought up some very good points in your post. Was nicely put when you said when we give other's our undivided attention, that attention is the purest sign of love. Cause in that moment, you have allowed yourself to create a space to share understanding and in turn where you put your attention, you show that you are listening and also our understanding with those things.
