Anandayana Project

I found this book on amazon, then I found the free link on the website *deleted* .

It's a small book and I thought I could read it over a weekend... well, it took almost all the first lockdown period to read it. So many times I had to step back to previous chapters in order to understand the new ones. I would not suggest it to somebody who is after a simple book.
I began with the English version and then I swapped to the Italian version as I believe it's better written (probably it loses something with translation).

This book attempts with a simple structure to blend different topics like philosophy, religion, spirituality, science, physics, mysteries, meditation, *deleted*), after life, anthropology and so on. I loved it!

Definitely I will read it again, even because I am not sure I´ve got a good understanding of all its points.

I have been practicing yoga and meditation for years, but after reading that book, my personal view of my practices has changed for good.

Has anybody read it? What do you think about it?
Shall we share our understanding about that book?

Could you explain in a few words what is it about? Who's the author?

Honestly I have to open the ebook because there are so many topics that I cannot list them on top of my mind.
The book contains extracts of the author's diary travelling in South America and meeting Pragnil, apparently an enlightened wise men. It would be nice to read entirely that dairy. From those extracts it seems the author meets Pragnil several times and travels with him. They meditate together, experience *deleted* together and get deep insights.
The book attempts to keep a pseudo-scientific approach using simple explanations to reach out understanding of most of people. It begins with some pseudo-technical definition and explanations of Universe, matter and reality in an alternative way. The book focuses quite a lot on the brain functioning, I guess mainly to let the reader understand how little we know about human beings. It is shown with scientific publication references how memory and mind are not located in the brain itself.
Then a definition of spiritual parts of human beings is given. At first, I tried to interpret that part with my personal knowledge/belief (I am not a religious person), then I gave up and forced myself to follow those teachings from blank paper to see where the book was going.
I found interesting how the author links the spiritual parts to the mind and to the real existence of a person.
The book briefly mentions about the BigBang and the human death (I've loved that!).
Next, the book speaks about the society, the religions and in general the living environment.
The third part of the book is more aligned with the Eastern philosophies. From Egos dismounting method, to self-love, from Here and Now, to importance of looking after oneself. It gives an Osho-like interpretation of transcending human issues that obstruct individual's spiritual path.
I've liked the links between spirituality and the reason of certain practices: why doing yoga, eating well, sleeping well can be considered as spiritual practices.
The part that describes the Mystical experience begins with definitions of non ordinary state of consciousness and what happens when a person experiences that. In that part of the book, it is shown how meditation and entheogen (I will never learn how to spell it) rituals can lead to Mystical experience.

At the end, Anandayana Project is all about building a path of serenity/happiness, like other 1000s books, but it has definitively another approach, more scientific and more interesting.

The book doesn't mention about energies, chakras and other related topics, I wonder why.

I couldn't find any details about the author, that's weird. I even thought that, because of that chapter about Egos demolition, the author doesn't care about about rewards or eventual popularity.
I couldn't even find any information about Pragnil.
The Anandayana Project seems to be funded by a British Company. I made few researches, it's a small business based in London that trade electronics devices and does humanitarian projects.

I think the book, mostly the English version, is not very well written. However I do appreciate the message in it.

Being a new a newbie I cannot add the website URL, maybe somebody of you can do that.
In that webpage you can find free downloads. *deleted*

I'm 75% through that book, and this quote fits my impression:
Quote:

"There are so many who take the dawn for the noon, a momentary experience for full realization and destroy even the little they gain by excess of pride. Humility and silence are essential for a sadhaka [seeker], however advanced. Only a fully ripened jnani can allow himself complete spontaneity."

"It is very often so with Americans and Europeans. After a stretch of sadhana, they become charged with energy and frantically seek an outlet. They organize communities, become teachers of Yoga, marry, write books - anything except keeping quiet and turning their energies within, to find the source of the inexhaustible power and learn the art of keeping it under control."
