I don't wanna download another pdf ...can you give 3 sentence teasers?
If it's a pdf - there's no copyright then! Yay! You can copy more! |

Here's my teaser. The Michelson–Morley experiment found no evidence of a luminiferous aether and Einstein's Special Relativity explained the mechanics of light, obviating the need for a medium (luminiferous aether) for light waves to travel through. Since then other hypothesis have been posited for a luminiferous aether but none have been elevated to the level of theory. There is no independent and repeatable experiment/observation to support these hypothesis. This is not to say it doesn't exist but the same can be said for any speculation lacking concrete observations supporting its premise and predictions. |
The Michelson–Morley experiment had a partial result. Dayton C. Miller repeated the experiment through out the year and also got a partial result and came up with a velocity of the earth relative to the aether.
http://sciliterature.50webs.com/Coverup.htm PAM Dirac is famous for working on the quantum theory. He believed an aether must exist. Max Planck studied the emission of light from incandescent sources (black body radiation), tried to develop the math to explain it and figured that only certain energy levels was allowed. This seems to be the beginning of the quantum theory. https://od.lk/s/OV8xNjQ1Njk0MTBf/Nat...8-p906-907.pdf The biggest brain fart in the history of science https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/gsjo...nce-t8500.html |

And lithe waves moving through the ether ? Your blending the 2 theory's together Atomism says that a light bulb shoot's light/photons out like a gun shooting billions of bullets constantly. And a wave is an action not a thing kinda like you make waves in the pool with your arms and so if these photons that were being shot out of the light bulb were waving through something what is this thing that they're waving in what is that substance? and this is where we get the "ether" the light bulb is agitating a median of some form I.e the ether and by agitating it it creates waves much like arms waving in a pool creates waves in the water it's more of an induction instead of an emission |

That's not what physics says. There is no theory of luminiferous aether however there is Special Relativity and it doesn't require a medium. This is way above my pay grade and yours too and until a viable theory with predictions backed up by experiment and observation is put forward the luminiferous aether is no more plausible than fairy dust. Every attempt to test and measure it have failed. On the other hand not a single prediction of Special Relativity has been disproved. It hasn't failed a single test of its predictions yet whereas any hypothesis of a luminiferous aether when put to the test has failed. That being the case I go with the theory that's batting 1.000 vs. all the hypothesis that are batting 0.000. |
