Rain!

For as long as I remember I've loved rain and lush places..
Nothing is more calming than some rain and green plants and trees.

It is such a mystical experience..

Where I am we need it desperately.

You would enjoy a cloud forest environment. Almost always rainy, everything wet, and muddy. Misty and dark. Cooler and less humid than that of a tropical rainforest.

A few photos taken of a cloud forest a few years back.

Altair 14-04-2019 09:59 PM

Thanks.
I've been to cloud forests. Really nice type of forest..
Misty, dark, and lush is where it's at..

I wanted to upload some but they're too big for the forum, but your pics look like the ones I've made in CR.

Altair 14-04-2019 10:16 PM

Haven't been to Washington state, US, but this is magical...

Hello

Is there no forests like Costa Rica or United States near your location?

During the weekends I'd walk in the forest preserves usually where the trail leads deep into the woods near the lakes and rivers. However, I've never walked in the woods while raining. I've had my shoe stuck in mud before when the trail was still damp from the day after it rained. So I'd avoid walking in the parks when it does rain. When I do get the chance to go outdoors in the park I always enjoy escaping from society. It's a great feeling walking in nature. Very rejuvenating!

No, I wished. Forests like that are rare on earth...
Consider yourself extremely lucky..

Hi

Thanks for sharing! It's perfect for meditating at midnight. Did you take that photo?

Lepus

Altair 21-04-2019 08:01 AM

Yes, it's mine.. and I made hundreds of pictures and tens of videos of the cloud forests.. :hug3:

Made pics there of loads of animals too.. emerald toucans, quetzals, reptiles, mammals, tarantulas..

Yes.. rain can help for meditation. If the sounds just stay the same it helps forget time..

Washington State enchanted me.
So I moved here.
The unfortunate thing is all the destruction of the natural places.
So it makes what remains all that more precious and sacred.

Tobi 26-04-2019 11:28 PM

Oh! I saw the nicest rain yesterday (and I, like Native spirit, usually hate rain and like snow)
It absolutely chucked it down until the little lanes where I live were running like rivers. I went out with my massive brolly, and my wellies to walk in it.
Then the sun came out and it was like raindrops were rainbows and crystals. Then steam rose from the pavement, and the sun kept shining.
That sort of rain is really nice! (Wet though....haha)

I grew up in the Pacific Northewest United States where it rains 8-9 months out of the year. I now live in Colorado. Colorado is semi arid and we don't get lots of rain here. About 13-16 inches a year! I do miss the rain but not 35-40 inches a year's worth.

Flexi-Girl 20-05-2019 01:46 PM

I love rain so much, I would probably be happy if it rained almost everyday. In CT where I reside at the moment, we've had a lot of rain this year. And with the rain come the complaints from my coworkers. While at the same time, I tell them how happy I am that it's raining. Now some of them accuse me of making it rain. Maybe they are right...Maybe.

Haha maybe you are a Rain Goddess!

You know what I would enjoy the most? Hours of both rain and sunshine every day, like during some periods in the tropics. It would lead to so much overgrowth! Let the plants rule the world!!

What does CT stand for..?

That sounds a lot like coastal California redwoods. Having lived there it rains almost every day but there is also lots of sunshine. The redwoods love it most of all. When the clouds part and sun shines through the canopy the rain drops sparkle like jewels. The effect is like a fairy wonderland.

Anala 21-05-2019 03:04 AM

Yay, Rain!

Ah, Linen53 the pacific NE forests are magical with the mist and freshness of the air!

When I was young I loved running in the rain.

When we lived in the desert it was such a blessing and brought such amazing surprises, like instant re-constituted frogs.

Now in semi-arid area, the rain brings the smell of soil and it is amazing!

The clouds in our big sky are amazing, giant white and billowy, grey and lacey, long and drippy.

Thank you for the wonderful thread Altair.

Altair 21-05-2019 10:31 AM

You're very welcome Anala..

@Flexi-Girl; you are most lucky to have lived in such a magical place. A fairy wonderland indeed..

This is me really... :hug3: I loved rain and greenery views there is really nothing charming, calm beautiful then this.

Altair 17-07-2019 04:34 PM

I'll have to give a royal kick in the A* to my own thread!

There's been too much rain and especially clouds these past couple of weeks, I got so tired of it. Now it's sunny again, thankfully..

Variety is a NECESSITY..

ocean breeze 18-07-2019 05:07 AM

Yeah, too much can be depressing.

I'm more hot and sunny guy myself. :icon_sunny:

TrueCrazyLion 24-08-2019 12:53 PM

We've been getting loads of rain where I am this year, something like 200% of the annual average so far already apparently. Insane rain FTW.

Definitely compensates for the relative lack of it last year!

BigJohn 11-09-2019 05:47 AM

I love the rain.
Where I live, it very rarely rains
but when it does, it comes down like "cats and dogs".

Clover 14-09-2019 02:23 AM

It rarely ever rains in California, our rain season is in winter and even than we barely get any.

What I do miss; rainy steamy weather while in coffee shops when I lived in the Mid West

BigJohn 14-09-2019 10:46 AM

There have been times I have left bags of concrete outside, unprotected and after several months, the concrete is still usable.

Anala 16-09-2019 12:42 PM

We have been giggling how much rain we have received this year, falling asleep to the sound of driving rain on the windows, waking to misty mornings, little diamond dew drops on the grass. We are almost positive my son brought home some of Wales’ weather. :D

BigJohn 17-09-2019 06:31 AM

Light rain today with no run off.

Every time this happens, reminds me of the area a major battle
in the American Revolution occurred.

Flexi-Girl 18-09-2019 01:26 AM

It's rained hard and steadily for the past week here in the Pacific NW. Every now and again, there are blotches of blue breaking through. It's one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

Feathers777 12-09-2020 04:58 PM

I always fall to sleep better when there is raining outside...so calming.
