https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HDUWKsTjDI ^ At least that video wasn’t filmed on an actual Amerind Sacred Site. Traditional Bali dance is not meant to be for the eyes of the onlookers (audience) but is performed for the eyes of God(s). Entering the Temple compound, strict dress codes apply. One needs to dress modestly, wear a sarong and cover one’s shoulders and part of the upper arms. Don’t know how they got away doing this – as there is nothing “sacred” about it anymore: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Dma8d4RPPI I just started to wonder if these fantasy displays had fuelled the anger about “cultural appropriation”, as they both went over the top sometimes? Is this walking all over other’s culture …“white privilege”? Or plain ignorance? Narcistic exhibitionism? All of the above – for the eyes of stoned spectators? And/or a way a gay man to find him/herself & come out of the closet? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSYEaCO3B8Y * |

Yup, tobacco offering and or food offering, sometimes leave trinkets or gifts. Sometimes tobacco ties/Prayer ties.(pics. below) A trade of sorts or a Thanksgiving offerings to the Spirits of the Land, Trees,animals.etc.etc. Showing Gratitude for the Blessings they give. Also feed the Rivers, feed the Fire, offerings to the 7 directions.etc.etc.etc. Offerings can be anything really, depending on what you have or what the situation dictates. A Real communication/Relationship from the Heart to and with your environment/Nature/Universe. https://www.google.com/search?q=toba...ih=87 7&dpr=1 |

"Cultural appropriations" Yup, you would not believe all the silliness, that comes out of people sometimes, well actually you probably would. I can't put my finger on it exactly to put into words, but I know it when I see it feel it. Here is my best to describe it. Some kind of individual hippy/new age rights of anything goes spiritual freedom and I will prove how liberated/spiritual I am or something that lacks any form of real Respect, humbleness, which seems pretty EGO based blankety blank.....LOL...... <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>><<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>> Is this walking all over other’s culture …“white privilege”? Or plain ignorance? I don't think it's limited by color but they may have corned the market. Ignorance probably best fits, which really is sad, very, very sad since it hurts many people involved. |
I’m staying with this "Tribal Fusion" belly dancing theme a bit longer …
Mongolian “Shaman” as performance dance/art: Well, that is their cultural heritage, so they can make performance art dances out of it if they want to … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJeEbNKMAgg * “During Soviet times, many shamans were killed or exiled to Gulags, and many more had their drums and shamanic garments confiscated”. So now this. Russian “Shaman” performance art/dance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CK-aRB8gNY * |
Sounds like there is a “civil war” going on within the belly dancing circles …
There apparently exist a belly dance blacklist from the ATS (American Tribal Style) performances to snake-like Tribal Fusions: http://www.nailahdance.com/blog * Must say – I just feel pure joy watching this belly dance performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOgRUVwxSv4 * |
Tibetan Buddhist Dakini Dance:

There was an outcry about the extremely harmful sexualization of Native American women when this was happening:
https://akns-images.eonline.com/eol_...024;center,top https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_vqlZJofo0 But Native Americans do not have a monopoly on ‘victimhood’ here either, the “Tribal Fusion” belly dancers do it to other cultures as well. When one starts to dig deeper, the picture that emerges becomes more complex and even more sinister. So, I am glad there are a lot of discussions within the belly dancing “sisterhood” about this. Joy of dance and the love of music itself is different than young women being influenced to become “sexualized to hell and back” as one commentator said here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcwOGVkC5e4 * Yet who can stand still to this? I can’t: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkLKhKT8X6I * |

I don't know what to say about dance. But when I think traditional dance I tend to believe the African tribes have that built right in as their major talent/gift. Myself I don't know anything about dance, but I do like music that makes me move. |
I'll post 3 bands. How do you like the music ImthatIm?
Well, this is rather a lot and you don’t have to go through them if you do not want to. Any New Age Tribal Fusion music supposedly from your cultural area? I'd like to hear/see them. Going back to that pre-Saami Sacred Site. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6gJnxKJnQk Some years back a petition to save it was circling. I almost signed it, but found out the petition was composed by “Russian white power neo-Nazi skinheads”, who wish to be seen as “Nordic-Norse”. But there is nothing “Norse” about that old Sacred Site. I am very fond of Norwegians & think Wardruna is a good band, but the belly dance and that song in the video doesn’t belong to the Site, that is not “us”. Wardruna live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fxn6Rjm6Sw Plus, Wardruna doesn’t pretend to be “Siberian Shamanic”, which makes me respect them. * |
Another band is Heilung (a Viking Age Germanic band):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRg_8NNPTD8 “Siberian Shamanic” imo. is culturally something that belongs more to Kazakhs like in Turan Ensemble: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Scs2nyjHlCM * |
