Rotating sensation while journeying?

Good morning!

I recently started studying shamanism. This afternoon, while journeying, I had the undeniable sensation that my upper body was rotating - clockwise, and then counterclockwise - repeatedly. It was vaguely similar to having the spins after a night of drinking, except that this was controlled, precise, I was not drinking, and my eyes were closed. It is worth mentioning that directly before I had the sensation of rotating, I was very aware that my body was vibrating.

At first I was frightened - I thought maybe I was having a stroke or something. But after I observed the sensation, it was quite exhilarating.

I have never experienced anything remotely like this while meditating, journeying or attempting to meditate.

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, and if anyone should share their insight.

Blessed be.

yes, quite the trip isn't it? I've recently had the same thing happen while meditating, the vibrations and body rotating...felt like an astronaut might feel.

I feel that it has to be one of my energy bodies that's doing the rotating as I could, at the same time feel the physical body vibrating. It might have come about from not being grounded enough in my case, it hasn't happened since, after doing some grounding exercises.

So grateful for finding this community - and I'm glad I'm not the only one who has experienced this! Quite honestly, I was freaking out a little.

Thanks for sharing!

Some other observations:

I usually meditate while lying down. I have felt dizzy while meditating before (similar to the spins); I've also felt like I was stuck in a sideways tilt (almost like I was lying in a hammock or a canoe that was about to tip over). This was different, though, as I was rotating fairly quickly and at a steady pace; there was a specific pattern to the rotations, if that makes sense. Also, I felt like the rotations were connected to my inhales and exhales; if it happened again, I feel that I would be able to direct the rotations. It was like I was pivoting. A final observation to note is that, at times, it felt like only my upper body was rotating; it felt distinctly separate from my lower body on several occasions.

Some further thoughts...I also meditate laying down. After reading your last post, it triggered a thought I had not considered. It may be the merkaba. I did a bit of reading tonight, and it seems some other folks experiencing it feel it is merkaba related. Everyone agrees that it is pleasurable.

I had a similar experience a couple years ago... I wrote about recently in this thread (towards the bottom):
