Eight Trigrams and the elements of nature
The basic eight trigrams encompass all the elements of nature.
They are the Heaven (sky), Earth, Water, Fire, Air (wind), wood, mountains and lakes. These symbols denote all of mother nature, and all these elements are giving their blessings to us. The hexagram or the I-CHing is an extension of the basic eight trigrams, with one trigram on top of another one. It is actually a binary system, which the computer literate folks will find very familiar.. |
Usually it is sky, lake, fire, thunder, wind, water, mountain, earth. Were you taught the way you listed? Or it looks like you are mixing Five Element Theory (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal), and Bagua.
