My heart exposed
 

Once there was a boy
As a baby he was always smiling
As a kid he was always misunderstood
In high school he was forced to fit in
When he left to go to uni his heart was walled in
Slowly but surely, his emotions caved in
From the fragments he saved he learned to express
His thoughts and feelings and how they were a mess
Loneliness and heartbreak he would meet in romance
Selfless in love before the fall would commence
Now he sits still, purposefully to say
Never again will he let himself be treated that way
"Baby steps", a voice from inside he hears
Rest, take it easy and dry up those tears
"You deserve love, one that doesn't hurt"
"Look up to the future and leave the thought of her in the dirt"
Free from the shackles of the demons poking my mind
I am whole, my conscious is clean and I won't be confined
Confident he opens the window to let in the light
And he opens the door for his heart's desire inside
A love born of mutual understanding and respect
Two hearts bound by a spiritual bond is what I expect
I will be sweet and for you forgiving
At times make your heartbeat go singing
I have expressed myself as best as I can
I would never abandon you when **** hits the fan
I will see where things go as I trust in my fate
That it entertwines yours, my darling soulmate
