linen53 08-10-2018 05:09 PM

I understand. I was the same with my sous vide cooker. It took several months of researching on and off until I could wrap my head around this type of cooking. But it was worth it.

Arjhan 09-10-2018 05:56 PM

I need to go over to HEB this afternoon:
Produce: red onions, celery, maybe a bell pepper
Chocolate (HEB brand, from Columbia)
Pasta sauce
Tofu
Vegan cheese
Bread

linen53 09-10-2018 07:36 PM

Arjhan I get Belgian chocolate from, of all places, Walmart. The brand is Hageland. http://hageland-chocolate.com/ It is so very good. And clean with no chemicals or corn.

Arjhan 09-10-2018 07:41 PM

Thanks, linen :)

I don't know the details of the ingredients in the HEB brand chocolate, but it is quite good and inexpensive. HEB is a Texas grocery chain, and is known for quality and decent prices.

My other source for chocolate is chocosphere.com

linen53 09-10-2018 07:54 PM

I think the Hageland chocolate is around $5 a bar and it's a whopping 10.5 ounce bar. No way you could eat it in one setting. Well, maybe but you'd get sick.

Lol, I'm familiar with HEB. I lived in Texas for quite a few years.

Arjhan 09-10-2018 08:00 PM

That price probably works out to be less than even the HEB version. Still, here's the link if you want to read about it:

https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h...e-bars/2158266

They have three versions, 54%, 70% (linked), and 85%. I haven't tried the 85% but maybe I will this evening.

linen53 09-10-2018 08:19 PM

Lol, I eat the 70% to. Looks safe. No corn syrup like most candies use anymore as a sweetener. Thank you!

linen53 11-10-2018 05:16 PM

We had our first snow storm dream jo, the other day and (at the suggestion of another friend on this forum) I asked the fairies to help hold up the limbs of the trees since they haven't shed their leaves yet. And you know what? I didn't see a single limb in town that had broken off the trees the next day. And we got 4 inches of snow! Enough to cause damage.

linen53 16-10-2018 02:04 PM

Grocery shopping today. :icon_rolleyes:

Prescriptions filled and grocery shopping in the city yesterday. Glad that's over.

jojobean 24-10-2018 02:21 PM

just some last minute touches to my Halloween costume. I'm going to a party on Saturday as the Green M & M. I got this really cute green dress, some white felt to make the M, little white gloves, white fishnet stockings and white go go boots. I even have a little witches hat head band for Green's Halloween costume...LOL

linen53 30-10-2018 02:40 AM

Lol, I haven't heard the term go go boots in decades. Takes me back. :D

I bought some different kibble for my cats online. I put them back on Purina Cat Chow and I got glutened all day today. Now I will try their Purina One True Instinct Grain Free. Hopefully Amber can digest it and it's palatable and I won't get sick.

I try to keep my meds at a minimum. I take supplements for inflammation and my immune system. I take aloe vera for heartburn.

linen53 04-11-2018 03:26 PM

My Amazon app daily special was a all in one printer/copier for $19. So yeah. I scarfed it up.

Golden Angel 08-11-2018 10:01 PM

Bought more crafting items yesterday to continue some steampunk crafts, tomorrow is pay day so my Amazon basket is already full lol, but that does include a Christmas present for my Husband.

Honza 13-11-2018 04:25 PM

Various Heavy Metal CDs.

linen53 14-11-2018 12:00 AM

I did another search on Amazon for a decent gluten and corn free tortilla. They do have one but I have to buy 48 tortillas. That's their minimum order. I just tried making them from scratch. I'll try them tonight for dinner. We will see.

Tobi 14-11-2018 12:23 AM

I bought Christmas presents for the only two remaining members of my family. So they have a few presents each. I wanted to get it done early as they need some fiddling with (my Aunt's have to be re-shaped so they will go through her letter box! She is nocturnal, and parcel post won't get to her if it won't go through her letter-box!)
That will involve me in some creative thin box-making projects! haha

Winter Song 14-11-2018 12:45 AM

At Goodwill, I found two big cones of handspun wool yarn in a natural brown for $6. That would probably be $30-$40 worth of yarn bought new, and it's nice quality. This weekend, I'll crochet slipper-socks from it, then felt them. I want to make them with a split between the big toe so I can wear flip-flops with them; that way I won't have to mess with regular shoes when I have to take the dog out or fetch the mail.

I also bought a big bag of sequins and stray buttons for $4. Last year, I discovered that if you lay sequins between sheets of baker's parchment and iron them on High, they flatten out, become slightly irregular, and have a pearly sheen to them, rather than being glitzy. Not being a glitzy kind of girl, I never imagined I'd one day want to sew sequins all over everything, but I've spent a lot of relaxing evenings stitching melted sequins onto otherwise plain clothes, and I get a lot of compliments on them. As for the buttons, I'm making holiday ornaments for co-workers to clear out scraps of fabric from my stash, and will use those (and some of the sequins) for that project.

On my list is a pair of men's khakis in my size, as I've shrunk out of the ones I've got. I found two pairs of jeans-style pants at Goodwill that would have worked, but because of the yoke in back they're harder to alter at the waist, so I gave them a pass because I know the right kind will turn up before long.

linen53 14-11-2018 03:07 PM

Brandless is having a special offer for the homeless in California. 3 meals for each order. I just ordered organic brown rice, organic basmati rice, organic hot pineapple salsa, organic taco seasoning packets, organic sweet potato chips, organic lentil soup, organic vegetable broth, wild caught albacore tuna and gluten free cranberry orange muffin mix.
