LIFE
Life has a way of humbling even the greatest.

True...
Can you expand on your experience and as to why you make this statement ? |
..... and life seems to be not what we want but what is laid out for us.

I was humbled once so I know Greg's statement is 100% true.

No matter how great the names or illustrious, Jesus Christ, Buddha, Alexander the Great, or any historical or contemporary figure, Life itself has the final claim. Experience teaches all of us sooner or later that it's better to be humble than loud and noisy. Through experience and school of hard knocks, I learned, if I didn't already know it, that I'm not holier or better than thou.

I'm going to open my big mouth and say something a bit different.
And unless a person has experienced this they will not know why I'm saying this, I get that. But, Life is Life. Life itself is just life. Life is wonderful and pure. But like God, it gets the blame for many things. It is something else that is doling out hard knocks. It is something else that causes the need for you and I to be humbled. It is something else to be realized that is the cause of our problems; problems that humble us. All from my personal exp., that is. :icon_cool: Take it or leave it. |
Millions of people in the U.S. were humbled today as they watched a solar eclipse. For some it was a scientific marvel and for others it left them in awe of the majesty and humility of our place on this planet watching the moon travel across in front of the sun.
Humility impacted me many decades ago when I lost my eyesight in Vietnam and was totally blind to this world for about 5-years. It was a very humbling experience that has stayed with me, even after more than a dozen eye surgeries and regaining my eyesight. Humility is a very important part of my spiritual journey; knowing that there is more to life than I can find in my thoughts or reasoning. The humbling effect of life lead me to surrender and trust the process of life. Life to me is what I am and not what I do or how I live; they are but expressions of life, in my opinion. |

Point to ponder: Why is it that an adult (ego in focus) reacts as being humbled, whereas a child (innocence in focus) feels astonished?
