New thread! Let's get rid of the word meditation and it's concepts
So, how does that sound...?
I have been reading around in different threads and there seems to be a a recurring 'issue'. Hard to stop thoughts Distracted Lack of success, whatever. NOW, what if you tossed that entire word and at the beginning... you 'sat'. That's all...comfortably sat, still, quietly for a certain amount of time? And them, threw out all concepts of mindlessness, mindfulness, emptiness and samadhi? So let's say for a month you sat in the darkness and stillness of being undisturbed...to enjoy thought. Thought about wondrous things...thinking 'a movie scene' for 30 minutes. About....love...$$...travel...a new baby...happiness in everything...confidence and freedom.... What does that mean? You have enjoyed yourself, changed your chemistry, relaxed every system in your body...and MADE A NEW GROOVE in your brain...of Joy! One month...then let's talk about this 'emptying'...and a successful meditation...hahahha! |
And when the negative thoughts inevitably intrude, MissH, how do you personally handle that? I'm all for cultivating a positive mindset, as I think you know. But the negative things are there for a reason, too, yes? Just pushing them away, suppressing or repressing them, isn't beneficial (in my opinion). They've got to be acknowledged and felt, seems to me, accepted and somehow healed.
But, perhaps that is a completely separate process from what you're talking about in this thread? |
and just BREATHE .
...make sure it's not dusty and easy the chives! |
This is IT!
The harder you try, the worse it gets. So if you forget to try and just allow - a whole new world emerges. |

This really is not rocket science. (Boy, that sounds rude, didn't mean it that way...) When we smell trash while walking the dog ...we cross the street. When we see murders on TV we switch the channel. By doing this we see the immense power we have over our thoughts, and thus, how we feel. If one thinks it is necessary to be close to the trash...well, hey...so be it.. it's their Path, I say. Good question. |
And why is BREATH so important?
It is our link to the Divine. It is not just a centering or calming focus.... |

Also, no concepts, no comparing, no struggle...just relaxing and enjoying... it's a stage that will lead into such beauty...and beyond. yup. I just thought this could help some beginners...oh, the start of slowing the mind can be so disheartening...but, just at first. |

Hi Miss H Anthony here again :D I have a question: Could you please explain how the breath is our link to the divine? Do we breath in qi(some say the holy spirit) so it's as i understand have divine aspects to it but it's not the divine is it? So how do we connect with the divine through breath? thx :hug2: |
I guess for any related practice to be successful we should worry less about defining it and more about embracing the practice.

I am so sorry, Anthony! Send me a pm next time if I miss something. My bad. Bolded...understanding, knowledge, perspective, insight. If you should sit before each meditation as I do and think or say the words ... "You have dissolved Yourself into the air, Lord...I know that You are behind every inhale and exhale...You are the power behind the breath... like an invisible motor You are underneath the breath and have placed Your Very Self within each atom of atmosphere around the earth. I walk and move within You. You are within every breath. Reveal Yourself to me...I will remain still and wait. Keep me close to You...don't hide any longer..." Try this and see if you 'make a connection'. Do something of this sort every day of your life as long as you live. |
