The Afterlife is what you make it.
 

It has been mooted, subtly and sometimes overtly that the Afterlife is what we think it to be.

Once again we as creators create. If this is the case, the possibilities are limitless.

Is there any mileage in this supposition ?

What we think or believe is only in our mind, at death there's no mind, no afterlife, it was all in the mind.

Yes there is some mileage.

But the overall situation is not simply what you've outlined. Yes we may create our local environment and if we are creative enough then the possibilities may indeed seem endless.

For some that is all they will find because they will take with them a mindset that the afterlife is only that way, the way they choose to create for themselves. Just as with other strongly-held views we may create for ourselves the very conditions we are conditioned to find. Self-fulfilling outcomes.

For the rest there will be a mix of self-created and communally shared situations.
