Quotes from the Masters and Teachers

Ram Dass~

Our interactions with one another reflect a dance between love and fear.

Happiness is your nature. It is not wrong to desire it.
What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside.

~Ramana Maharshi

I am the light and the way and the Soul of your Soul...

Just as a solid rock is not shaken by the storm, even so the wise are not affected by praise or blame. - Buddha Shakyamuni, Dhammapada

He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life? If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! - Jesus of Nazareth, Gospel according to Luke 12:22-28

To find a buddha, you have to see your nature. Whoever sees his nature is a buddha. If you don't see your nature, invoking buddhas, reciting sutras, making offerings and keeping precepts are all useless. - Bodhidharma

Ah, so many more. Great topic :D

Where did he say that? It sounds like a misquote of John 14:6. But I concede that he may have made a remark such as that in a noncanonical gospel; although, I don't recall it.

"If the 'god' is not wiser, kinder etc. than you are, he is a false god--a simple litmus paper test."

Joan Grant

I like these. I should have said, lesser known quotes...bec we know
a lot of the really famous ones already...but, they're all great.

"When the consciousness is freed it realizes that it was always free, except when
it accepted the illusion of time, of memory, of experiences, past and future; only
in living in the present is there freedom."

~ a Buddhist Rinpoche in "The Yoga of the Christ"

"Every situation, properly perceived, becomes an opportunity to heal."

Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

No man is happy without a friend nor sure of him til he's unhappy

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Love is what we are born with. Fear is what we have learned here. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of fear and the acceptance of love back into our hearts. (Marianne Williamson)

amy green 15-03-2013 02:41 PM

I know you have read and like this one Miss H - thought I would include it in this new thread...

"Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment."

Ekhart Tolle

Miss Hepburn 15-03-2013 02:44 PM

And may I remind people that Marianne Williamson is /was a teacher
And student of A Course In Miracles...she was the one that first
Brought it more to the public in her first book, "A Return To Love".

A must read.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.
John the Apostle

silent whisper 15-03-2013 02:50 PM

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Albert Einstein.

Animus27 15-03-2013 06:40 PM

“Wretched men cringe before tyrants who have no power, the victims of their trivial hopes and fears. They do not realise that anger is hopeless, fear is pointless and desire all a delusion. He whose heart is fickle is not his own master, has thrown away his shield, deserted his post, and he forges the links of the chain that holds him.”
― Boethius, 480-525 CE

Take the apple. It is not god that creates the apple but the apple tree. You might note that god created the apple tree yet the apple tree creates itself mighty and beautiful from a tiny seed that was stored and nurtured within an apple.

"I have not come to bring peace! I have come to bring a sword!"- Jesus

LOL Just kidding. That lines is always taken out of context.

I love the line from Yogananda because of how true it is in my own life-

"Beware of the Company you keep. It is greater than your own will power."

Miss Hepburn 16-03-2013 06:15 PM

"The plan for the soul was a cycle of experiences unlimited in scope
and duration in which the new individual would come to know creation
in all it's aspects at the descretion of will.
The cycle would be complete when the desire of will was no longer
different from the thought of God."

~Edgar Cayce

Whatever is flowing out from our consciousness, that which is going
forth in secret, is being shown to the world in outward manifestation.

I say to myself I will not mention Him. I will speak His name no more.
But, then it becomes like fire burning in my heart and I become
weary holding it in and I cannot.

Came about during a medium experience. Unknown spirit. Cant remember now who. Possibly one that mentioned to be alien, or as he also stated, original jews. I don't know I was just the messenger. All I can personaly say about it is it felt beautiful and intoxicating. Thought it was a good quote in any case.
