It's a shame that Spiritualism doesn't have better guidance on the notion of reincarnation although I think it's become a bigger issue than is warranted. I'm not familiar with the NSAC Declaration Of Principles. I do acknowledge, though, that many folk are deeply interested in linkage between reincarnation and past-life-recall but that last subject has little to do with Spiritualism anyway. |
I've enjoyed our conversation, BigJohn. :hug3:
Despite the many registered members here, no more than a handful appear to be Spiritualists or know anything about Spiritualism. Perhaps they are unable, unprepared or unwilling to engage in discussion on the subject - who knows? I don't even know if you're a Spiritualist but I most assuredly am. Perhaps it doesn't much matter how others describes themselves but for me as an individual it does matter. On the first point above, elsewhere online I have a friend who is the most knowledgeable non-Spiritualist Spiritualist I know! I call him 'my duck friend' - walks like a duck, looks like a duck and quacks. He's a Spiritualist in every way save for seeing himself as one or calling himself one...... I don't go around declaring my persuasion in everyday life but on discussion forums the subject is one of my specialties. The addition of this Spiritualism forum was in part down to my persuasion and encouragement. |

The NSAC Declaration of Principles We believe in Infinite Intelligence. We believe that the phenomena of Nature, both physical and spiritual, are the expression of Infinite Intelligence. We affirm that a correct understanding of such expression and living in accordance therewith, constitute true religion. We affirm that the existence and personal identity of the individual continue after the change called death. We affirm that communication with the so-called dead is a fact, scientifically proven by the phenomena of Spiritualism. We believe that the highest morality is contained in the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We affirm the moral responsibility of individuals and that we make our own happiness or unhappiness as we obey or disobey Nature’s physical and spiritual laws. We affirm that the doorway to reformation is never closed against any soul here or hereafter. We affirm that the precepts of Prophecy and Healing are Divine attributes proven through Mediumship. |

Most of the people I know who go to Spiritualist Churches, also go to other places. That is probably why most people 'here' do not post in this forum and I suspect, most are not well schooled on the subject. |

I know that one too..... |

Perhaps they're simply not attracted to the simplicity of Spiritualism? I observe many who appear to be seeking something sexy from spirituality.... Modern Spiritualism would never do for such individuals. |

Ah, so..... I actually have read them before but I'd forgotten. No mention of reincarnation, though? |

The NSAC does not believe in reincarnation. I spoke with their President several times and if somebody gets on the podium and starts bringing up reincarnation as a fact, they are asked to step down from the podium. |

I fancied that might be the situation. The SNU's Seven Principles don't include anything about reincarnation and the body neither supports nor denies its veracity. As such it wouldn't be allowed in an address on church platforms or from anyone in any official capacity elsewhere. My approach is that I have no doubt at all that it's true but I'm sure details are likely to be skewed, misrepresented and misunderstood - and there is also no specific proof. I am totally comfortable with my approach. |
