A I , how smart should we make our computers ?
 

How smart should we allow our computers to get ? Should we include an off switch in case they want to get rid of their creaters ? If we create a machine that we could transfer a human consciouness in to after death , is some thing we should do ?

Did the Terminator movies not teach us anything? How about the Harrison Ford movie Blade Runner? Or that recent Brit Tv show Humans? Nope. We should not play god with AI. Bad, bad, bad things will happen.

The tek that turns around and kills its makers is certnly a fear of sci fi . Data from Star Trek would never harm any one . We need to give our tek the best of humanity not its worst .

Even happened in Star Trek. Remember Data's bad brother Lore? Borg? Humanity should not play god.

I dont see creating machines from electonic parts as playing God , Its going to be a few years before we can create any thing that can think for its self . Even then its lines of code . Not ant thing close to a living creture . Again lets hope we giver our machines the best of not the worst .

If AI leads to sentience artificial beings, then that is exactly what we would be doing, IMO. And then to create these sentient beings to serve us would be placing ourselves as their creators and masters. I don't think we should go there.

At the minute we cant create a machine that is sentient . We do have some robots that have programs that kinda look like there sentient . That is just lines of code . In using the term playing God you use as a bad term . Some thing we should not do. As 2 people join to create a new life , is this not playing God ? Why would not some nerds in a lab be doing any thing different ? Assuming they could create a machine that could think and act for its self .

Reproduction is not the same. Because nerds get caught up in the possibility, what ifs and in the excitement don't think about the consequences until it's too late. Then we end up with Arnold Schwarzenegger as a sentient AI coming back from the future to eliminate human kind. I don't think mankind has the wisdom to go around creating artificial life or not outside of biological reproduction that is normal.
