You know why you like being around me?
Because I don't mind what you do.

The true beauty of a person glimmers like a slow twilight where the full force of each colour comes alive and yet blends with the others to create new light ~ John O'Donohue

This new day is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on the yesterdays. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Miss Hepburn 30-07-2013 02:55 PM

“As soon as a man is fully disposed to be alone with God, he is alone with God
no matter where he may be…in the country, the monastery, the woods, or the city.
The lightning flashes from East to West, illuminating the whole horizon and striking
where it pleases and at the same instant the infinite liberty of God flashes in the depths
of that man’s soul, and he is illumined.
At that moment he sees that though he seems to be in the middle of his journey, he has already
arrived at the end.
For the life of Grace on earth is the beginning of the life of Glory.
Although he is a traveler in time, he has opened his eyes for a moment in eternity.”

~Thomas Merton

Beautiful Miss Hepburn :hug2:

Walking uplifts the spirit. Breathe out the poisons of tension, stress, and worry; breathe in the power of God. Send forth little silent prayers of goodwill toward those you meet. Walk with a sense of being a part of a vast universe. Consider the thousands of miles of earth beneath your feet; think of the limitless expanse of space above your head. Walk in awe, wonder, and humility. Walk at all times of day. In the early morning when the world is just waking up. Late at night under the stars. Along a busy city street at noontime.~Wilfred A. Peterson

That is said so simply and elegantly and yet so deeply profound.

I hear people talking and complaining all day - or other - and I hear myself - and I realise it is just a transcript of what I am confronting myself with and little else.

And then, I have to go and eat humble pie somewhere. But I do that bit very quietly as it is easier to talk and tut tut the other!

Miss Hepburn 09-08-2013 05:11 PM

Before man attempts to solve the secrets of the Universe without,
he should master the Universe within- the Kingdom of the Self.

Existential Insight

"I am as inseparable from the world as light, yet as exiled from the world as light. Like light, I glide over the surface of stones and water, never gipped, never held, always alone."
Jean Paul Sartre

The man who is calm and even-minded during pain and

Be less of a judge and you will be surprised that when you become a witness
and you don't judge yourself, you stop judging others too. And that makes
you more human, more compassionate, more understanding. - Osho

"I think; therefore I am".

Teresa of Avila

Because of her frequent mystical seizures, St. Teresa of Avila had a direct access to Christ, whom she learned to speak with in almost human brotherly terms.
Once while crossing a stream in Spain, her wagon overturned, throwing her into the cold rushing water; Jesus appeared to her.
"I treat my friends thus," He said.
"Perhaps that is why there are so few of them," she replied.

Belle 04-09-2013 06:31 PM

Not a quote ...

But every morning, some lovely person puts a "thought for the day" at the tube station up on a white board which usually lists delays for the underground, etc.

And there is some little treasure to take with you. It makes my heart warmed.

"If we could inspect an atom, we should see a cluster of tiny bodies
separated by space, whirling around each other at phenomenal speeds.
Like the whirling airplane propeller which appears to be solid, the movement
of the atom creates the appearance of solidarity in all forms."

" To be aware of yourself as a spiritual being, offspring of
an infinite spiritual system

"The love of God, unutterable and perfect, flows into a pure soul the -way that
light rushes into a transparent object.

The more love that it finds, the more it gives itself; so that, as we grow clear
and open, the more complete the joy of heaven is.

And the more souls who resonate together, the greater the intensity of their love,
and, mirror-like, each soul reflects the other.

— Dante Alighieri

Love

"Everything depends on your attitude towards yourself. That which you
will not affirm as true of yourself can never be realized by you, for that
attitude alone is the necessary condition by which you realize your goal."

"Would you like to save the world from the degradation and destruction it seems destined for? Then step away from shallow mass movements and quietly go to work on your own self-awareness. If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation."

I like that. The movie Dragon had a quote that said something like 'when one person sins, everyone is guilty of it.' This is Eastern type thinking that you don't see much of here, but I identify with it more than our thinking. It's about looking within instead of outside. To me that's what spirituality is all about.
