From "The Path", by Swami Kriyananda, direct devotee of Yogananda's,
passed last year. Page 300.

"The purpose, then, of spiritual work is not really to do things for God,
but rather to do the most important thing of all for ourselves:
to purify our own hearts."

"There is no psychological evolution: there is only the ending of sorrow,
of pain, anxiety, loneliness, despair and all that." ~Krishnamurti

Now this is one thing I like that he said, thank you vecta3.

It is a good one isn't Miss H...this vid has just been put on youtube and is along those lines "Is suffering needed to face the necessity of change?" --so many spiritual traditions assert it is so that it's become "tradition", as pointed out in the vid. We guard it preciously but obviously suffering is only destructive. it can never lead to enlightenment. it must end is all. its not a route or a means. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqIL...ature=youtu.be like there was ever something "to do" anyway?

Great thread of wisdom, and I really enjoyed reading it. Two of my favourite quotes in this thread are....

Awareness or mindfulness is living in the present moment.

Here is a saying by Nisargadatta ....

A quiet mind is all you need. All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet. As the sun on rising makes the world active, so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind. In the light of calm and steady self-awareness, inner energies wake up and work miracles without any effort on your part.

Our words of today are our worlds of tomorrow.

Stillness begins when one locks their legs on the teeter totter of life.
