Albeit risky, could science ever do a "Flatliners" experiment?

I know this is more of a silly question. The brain can only survive a certain amount of time without oxygen before being brain dead, and of course being deprived of oxygen can create wonky hallucinations. There are a handful of NDE's out there of people who have had near-death experiences that have lasted over 10 minutes, if not longer. There's so many different factors that would go into trying to conduct such an experiment. If scientists genuinely wanted to, could this be possible?

:D :angel4: I guess they'd need volunteers for that....

That was my first thought too .

Then, on a more sober note, I remembered of some inhuman experiments conducted during the recent history.

Haha! That is true! Although, there's a handful of people out there with a very keen morbid curiosity! Hm, frankly speaking, if I were old or perhaps terminally ill, I would consider volunteering

Ethics is definitely one thing. You do have to wonder how the general public would feel about something like this, even if people DID volunteer. Not too sure if forcing such an experiment would produce honest results, heck, I know I wouldn't cooperate genuinely. Who knows, just a thought

It'd never be approved by an ethics committee so never be validated as 'research'.

I could have sworn something like this already happened...
