My Daughter works in a school there is one little boy there he is 5 comes out with some things
Today they were learning about Hindu Gods the slide show showed a picture of Shiva,
The little boy shouted she needs to see a doctor she has got a skin condition
so he was asked why,
he said because she is purple. he said she is pretty but she is purple.
He said im not going to marry her.
he turns around and says silly teacher showing her .
you know what they say out of the mouths of babes

Neelkanth
 

Shiva is also called Neelkanth - One with Neel (Blue/purple ) kanth (throat) . It is said it Kanth is blue due to poison which came out of Devasur Samudra manthan ( a seminal forum historically) . With these background painters drawing Shiva picture often draw it in blue/purple. It's more symbolic signifying God takes bad from us and in return gives us good only. Even if people may abuse /criticism /blame/neglect God (akin to drinking poison for a respectful entiry) , He only nurtures/protects such people . His wrath may come only after enough opportunities and warnings are given for us to change.
