I was told that I am a medium by a fellow reader.
 

I have. But i am not sure if i really am. Is there anyone who can guide me and let me see if I really am? I will be thrilled if i turn out to be one but other times i think it might be a terrible burden.

Let's start first with a couple of questions, if I may, to help when answering your own.... What do you think a medium is or does?

What does the person who told you that you were a medium actually know about mediumship? Are/were they practicing? I've seen some real horror stories within the context of mediumship that has nothing to do with mediumship at all, and in a couple of cases it was serious mental health issues.

If you do have 'signs' of being a medium, what do you or this person think they are?

Really, the best way is to find yourself a Spiritualist church who can help you discover or develop any talents you may have.

A person with the abiity to contact spirits?

Tho i was a friend of hers I don't know well about how much that person practices in mediumship. I never thought i was a medium before.

No but it's a common misunderstanding. What you've described is the province of a sensitive or a psychic.

You become a medium when you use your sensitivity, your awareness, the gift you've been given to communicate with discarnate entities - spirits - in the service of others.

Ohh so it's more like how you use those psychic ajilities to serve others that makes you one.

Be careful you're not in a position of the blind leading the blind. Ask yourself whether you understand what you're hearing.

Please keep in mind that "reading" someone ie psychic/auric reading isn't mediumship.

Being sensitive to the presence of spirits and even communicating with them isn't mediumship.

Be cautious, be discerning, be sceptical. Test what you are hearing. Research the situation carefully. That applies to me too.

Did this person ever tell you what makes her think you were a medium? Did you think you gave her reason to believe so?
What I'd be interested in is what you might have been saying for her to think you were a medium.

Mediums are psychic but psychics aren't necessarily mediums, and there is a difference. Psychic is more of a sixth-sense than anything else and it's intuitive, reading people's energies and the like. Mediums work with a direct Spirit link that is usually initiated by the medium, often after meditation but that's not a necessity. They also work as a go-between if you like, passing messages between a person and a Spirit. That's where the 'medium' comes in, because they are a medium or a channel.
