Favourite British comedy TV, please

Hi,
What are your favorite Comedy series..old or present?
Thanks a lot. So many I don't know what to watch.
Love Doc Martin.
(There's no TV section here.)

There are so many. I think one of my favorites was *Little Britain* with David Walliams and Matt Lucas.

Fortunately I watched the entire series before streaming existed.... and the ones I didn't see were available anytime to me at Blockbuster

Hello

I am so shocked at times by Hail and Pace and the content. I too so love them both. Having a British husband I have found more humor than I can handle at times. I often fall asleep to Dave Allen.

As for a series Little Britain is a classic.

Lynn

Alright! Little Britain - up two!

I love Keeping up Appearances and Are You Being Served. The only newish Brit show I got into was Dr. Who. When Matt Smith left, I stopped watching. I loved David Tennant until Matt came along. Matt is MY Doctor!!

'Peep Show' is probably my favourite, it's a sitcom that's filmed from a first-person perspective where you hear the inner monologues of the two main characters - very original premise, and very amusing to hear their dysfunctional thought processes.

Though 'Red Dwarf' pushes it close for me, it's a sitcom set on a spaceship and its humour is very British (though it only properly gets going in season three for me, and then tails off after season six). 'The IT Crowd' is also very funny, love the characters in it and it's just very silly.

Nice!

It's the 'blue alert' scene that does it for me, never fails to crack me up.

Blackadder is a great classic

Miss Hepburn 07-09-2022 01:20 PM

Yeah, talk about your favorite scenes!
Turns out I am offered way more Brit crime shows! Gee.
Finishing up Whitechapel. Loved Spooks yrs ago.

American and French humour is like that for me. In Canada, we had (or have? I don't watch telly anymore) Just for Laughs and my French wife would laugh up a storm. I never got the jokes.

Same with US comedy, though David Letterman did tickle my funny bone somewhat.

I don't watch much TV (more into movies) but two of my favorite TV comedies are Curb Your Enthusiasm and Frasier.

As for British sitcoms, a few that have yet to be mentioned are The Benny Hill Show, Fawlty Towers, and Mr. Bean.
