Meaning of anchors

Hello :)
Does anyone know what anchors represent or mean?
I've recently been inundated with anchors and I tried to search for the meaning online but there seem to be dozens of interpretations and mostly sites about anchor tattoos. I don't want to be in a position where I'm reading conflicting meanings and just cherry picking the one that sounds nicer to me.
Can anyone post their interpretation or knowledge of anchors? Thank you!

I don't really know but I'll take a swing at it. Could mean something is holding you back, or weighing you down preventing you from setting sail. Then again maybe it represents grounding, stability, a way of saving you from going adrift, floating away or being flighty. Or it could be representing marine life, boats & the sea in general, possibly signs suggesting or portending a trip by boat across water for you in the near future.

Most important question imo is how does the symbol of an anchor impress or strike you & relate in your mind to what is going on in your life at the times when you see them?
