Hey all :)

Not sure where to post this, so this seems like a good place.

Has anybody here been to Glastonbury Tor? What were your impressions/experiences of the place, and Glastonbury in general?

My experience was you could feel the electricity in the atmosphere and the legend all around you. Very spiritual indeed!

Ah but, which legend are you referring to ?
Glastonbury was regarded as a holy place long before christianity.

I have been to Glastonbury many times and walked the Spiral Paths several times, seeking the Way. Sadly, it is becoming a tourist trap just like Stonehenge.

Not sure exactly - to me it was comparable to the 2012 thing in so much as, you could almost touch it but not quite. I can't say I found it overly touristy (if such a word exists) but I agree with you about Stonehenge. Whilst visiting Somerset, we took a day trip to Stonehenge. I remember driving by there in 1997 with my Dad and you could just feel energies coming from the place, to the point where I found it mystifying and, to be honest, intimidating. This time, it was the day before the start of the London 2012 Olympics and it was inundated with people from all over the world. Nothing wrong with that, but I came away with the feeling of "just a load of old rocks in a field"! My girlfriend however picked up on a few things. We then went to Woodhenge and I was again disappointed with that! The highlight of the day turned out to be the visit to Pizza Hut in Salisbury!

Greetings to you All,

I have been to Glastonbury twice and never picked up anything .... no, no, that's not quite true. I did climb to the top of the Tor and picked up a load of cow poo on my right shoe. Tis true!

As far as picking up 'vibrations' of some kind, then the answer was and is - no. Perhaps I'm just not as spiritual as I thought I was or - and this thought just popped in - perhaps I am but not to the particular 'vibration' that is there, even if it is powerful enough to be classified as a world chakra.

Two of us went there about six years ago,and we climbed to the Tor.

Sorry to say,but I felt nothing of a spiritual nature. In fact I was a bit disappointed by the place.

I usually pick up vibes at places, but definately not here. And I was also a bit disgusted at the prices in some of the shops....crystals for twice the price I could buy them elsewhere.

I suppose it is a spiritual place, but it's now been taken over by commercialism.

Namaste.....Mike

It's strange you don't perceive the extraordinary energy at Glastonbury. It's much stronger than anywhere else and quite distinct. I find it stimulating, sometimes a bit overmuch. I haven't even been to the Abbey yet and that's supposedly where it's centred.

I don't perceive it much on the Tor. The wind is pretty distracting. ;)
I perceived something like a big floating tube going just over one side of the very top of the Tor. I later found out it's a grand circle leyline.
There's something very odd 'buried' at centre of the bottom of the Tor. I pick it up every time I'm there and still have no idea what it is.

There's a cheap crystal shop down a side street (on the right if you're going down the High St).
The bookshop at the bottom of the High St on the left is immense.

The Goddesses are nothing special but they sure look the part. Their ceremony where they mix the 2 waters is fun.

I used to live in Somerset, so have visited Glastonbury many times. What you feel, I believe depends on how you recieve energies. Because ofcourse energies come from many places.

I like the energy of the earth ion Glastonbury. Yet, I have found it tinged with the fear and pretense of people feeling overwhelmed and wanting to fit in to an image of spirituality.

I don't mean that negatively - it is more because Glastonbury is so well known, that it attracts many people who want to open to their spiritual feelings, but it is still out of their comfort zone. And equally it attracts many who will make easy money off the spiritual tourist by dressing and acting the part.

I am obviously from the westcountry (UK) and so my experience is more limited to this area. But places I would suggest to visit for a spiritual experience are Dartmoor and Exmoor and a little place in Worcestershire called Malvern that is famed for its natural water and hills.

I do love the West Country. I spent six years in Gloucestershire in Cheltenham. The energy was amazing. Much better than stuffy old Oxford.

LOL!!!

I love Glastonbury, I was first drawn there by the ruins of the Abbey,,,

My experiences when I've been there involve people just being themselves, included being serenaded by one of the local 'winos' with a song he'd wrote himself, which was unbelievably meaningful!

Love and hugs

Ah yes another fan of the West Country and love energy but am very protective of Oxford - my birth place and where I was reared.

Now you mention it, it's lacking in any resonance energy.

I love also the energies in Cumbria and Yorkshire and there are some really interesting stone formations in Cumbria particularly that I have come across. I was there in April and my spirit soared.

Earth ion?

If you have difficulty distinguishing between the energy of Glastonbury itself (the rock it's founded on?) and people's energy, the latter falls off according to an inverse square law, much like sound.

I don't mean that negatively - it is more because Glastonbury is so well known, that it attracts many people who want to open to their spiritual feelings, but it is still out of their comfort zone. Pretty much every beautiful built-up place is full of tourists and sellers paying massive rent to sell overpriced stuff to them. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

If you wish to experience Infinity, come to the North Pennines. The horizon is a million miles away.

ug norseman - what a picture - I want to be there NOW. Tramping the hils ... I did part of the penine way when I tramped coast to coast earlier this year (some 192). It's so OLD. Amazing energies.

Just a typo sorry..in.

Norseman that is a lovely pic. If I can work how to post pics, I's love to post one of the malvern hills. They have a 360 view.

But if not, I'm sure it can be googled.

Wimp ! :D My favourite time of the year when the tourists have gone and the moors are left to the "odd-ones" like me

indeed there's nothing like a cold day and tramping along and getting the circulation going.

That said, it's a gorgeous day out there and why am I sitting here in the warm when I could be walking in a park - not quite penines or lake district or peak district but still - the great outdoors!

I've been out today! I walked up to the Sunday Market in our village. Got some tasty goodies like a pork pie, organic bacon, a joint of pork, home made chilli sauce, a nice white cabbage.....yum.

I'm on my way.

It's a fab morning here and I'm grateful for the vitamin d and the cold still winter air.

I haven't spent much time in Glastonbury itself, but I did go up the Tor earlier this year. There's certainly a nice energy around it, although it didn't help my painful knee on the way up (apologies to the Dutch lass for not being more chatty, needed to fall back and hobble/cuss a little).

Dartmoor is a good shout! It's nice to find a quiet tor, then bask in the sun. Tryfan in Snowdonia is great ~ a nice scramble, and you can jump on Adam and Eve at the top! lol
