For North American regions, there is a Full moon this morning, (August 18th) Peaking at 5: 27 am ( Eastern). This one is dedicated the sturgeon fish of the Great Lakes!

A little background.
Some Native American tribes called the August Moon the “Sturgeon Moon” because they knew that the sturgeon of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain were most readily caught during this Full Moon. They also called August's Moon the “Full Green Corn Moon.”

– Full Sturgeon Moon – August The fishing tribes are given credit for the naming of this Moon, since sturgeon, a large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water, were most readily caught during this month. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because, as the Moon rises, it appears reddish through any sultry haze. It was also called the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon.

It's currently 12:23 (0023) here in California, and the "almost lunar eclipse" isn't set to begin for two more hours according to the time and date website, but I've been watching the moon for the past three and it is breathtaking right now! It's progressively eclipsing, a pinkish orange right now. Getting darker, and I hope other people are experiencing this amazing phenom right now!

I apologize if this is not where it goes, took a shot. As I hit post it's a deep orange...so gorgeous! Is anyone else watching this tonight?

It does not have a red effect here in the mid west. However, the the moon has lit up the entire sky here, it's a very beautiful sight.

Clover, very beautiful moon, no matter what it looked like :) I'm sorry Dragonfly, maybe tonight when it's meant to be full! Is it forecasted to rain again?
