heat and cooling foods

i was just wondering what the baseline of diving the foods into heat and cold is. and also if one had to physiologically talk about its effect on the human body which aspect does it touch for e.g. does it change the ph of the blood- make acidic or alkaline etc

Certain foods when consumed create heating effect in your body while others create cooling effect. That itself is the major baseline to classify foods as heating or cooling types. Intake of excessive heating food can cause constipation, indigestion, ulcer, rashes and even short temper. Having excessive cooling foods on the other hand makes you lethargic, tired and low on energy.

Ayurvedic diet focuses on having your food in the right order and as per your body type, thereby, bringing a balance for optimum health. Ayurvedic diet also puts an emphasis on what type of food to eat during which season. For example, chilies are hot and should be avoided in summer.

Examples of heating foods are: Meat, fish, walnut, eggs, Onion, Tomato, Orange, Peanut, and Almond.

Examples of cooling foods are: Cow's milk, Goat's milk, Saffron, Wheat, Barley, Kidney Beans and carrots.

Totally agree with Prashant. In addition to these, if you are looking for a cooling food / health supplement, I would recommend an ayurvedic supplement called chyawanprash. It has cooling effects in the body. However, there is a myth that chywanprash is hot in potency, but is cool in ayurvedic properties because its main ingredient is amla or Indina gooseberry, which is known for its cooling activity in the body. Due to these effects, chywanprash works in heartburn, acidity and gastritis as well.
There is only one problem that it is bitter in taste.
I was recently searching for a suitable chyawanprash when I came across HERBOfit from Dr.Vaidyas, which is a chywanprash in capsule format. Looked convenient to me as there is no more bitter taste to be endured.
