Teachers

Saints sages and seers come in all shapes and sizes. If we find one in this life we are very fortunate, if not then we should pray to receive the Grace in whatever way we can..... FRom my recent visit to India i noticed both in myself and other spiritual seekers the tendency to judge and to present negative views on teachers... Best just to get on with our own journey and allow others to follow their path....
Teachers i have been fortunate to have met include
Anandamayi Ma
Sathya Sai Baba
Yogi Ram Surat Kumar
HH Dalai Lama
HH 17th Karmapa
HE Tai Situ Rinpoche
MIngyur Rinpoche

I love and respect them all for they have all shown me in different ways that God Guru and Self are one and the same.

Interesting to see this thread - after 2 hours being on the phone with a close friend still following and worshipping her Guru, that well... forget it.

I was able after 4 years to explain why I don't want any part of the antiquated Guru/devotee relationship anymore.
(Alright a temporary teacher/ student relationship I can go along with.)

Simply put - the guru's are limited.
They can point, but only "take" you so far.

Albeit, they can take you very far!

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Look In The Mirror For Wisdom

Sometimes the wisest teachers can come in the most unlikely packages!

Our most potent teacher is our self. Our own natural inquisitiveness to push out the boundaries & explore spirituality.

once I was reading news paper and I saw an article on her. I saw the photograph and I was thoughtless. It is my true feeling.

What is within is also all around us... siva sakthi... Ramana Maharsi says all need a teacher... who that teacher is may differ in appearance but he/she is one.... Guru system being antiquated is a product of this kali yuga... one because many teachers have abused their role and also because many students have too much ego to even approach a guru with the right attitude.... we find the guru we need...

I'd agree with that.

The tendency to criticize teachers, gurus etc other than our own is not good. What suits one person may not suit another. People are at very different stages of the path.
The best thing probably is the be true to whatever teachings are helping us now.

This is wise advice. Whatever helps, use it with resepect and cdevotopn but be prepared to let it go....
There are many these days who critize various teachers, sometimes because of a negative experience they have had but more commonly because of a negative experience they have heard someone else has had!!!!
Everything we need is within us but the recognizion of that sometimes needs pointing out ..

My Amazing Guru - Live

Before you judge with prejudiced eyes, experience the power of online group meditation... as a voyeur you may experience something (more likely nothing), participating, getting into it, you may be more receptive to a bonafide awakening experience.
