Why Are We Even Here?

I often wonder what the point is, why exactly we are here on this plane of existence. If we come from an all knowing source, from the oneness, from an eternal with no end, then end up in this matrix of chaos that appears to be finite. What's the point?

The selves of us, who incarnated here, are less evolved comparatively to others, like children. We're sent here for schooling.

Well that's the answer that we always think or hear from others, but again if we come from an all knowing source, what is there exactly to learn.

I find it really senseless to get someway cut loose from source to learn things all over again, or discover things just to go back to source.

And if we are like children, how exactly did we get that way if we are eternal?

A small part of everything wanted to come and experience life as physical beings. Our true nature is conscious light, we wanted to experience emotions and physical experiences and all it means to be human. We asked for and were given free will, this allowed the creation of ego. To ensure we behaved well a universal law was created called karma. Quite quickly ego became very strong and started to believe it was real, forgetting who we were we started to act badly and created massive karma that had to be paid back. With each incarnation our egos became stronger and the suffering of previous karma grew. But as with all cycles a point comes when we want to break the cycle of rebirth and return to our true nature, this is the spiritual path and eventually, through spiritual practice and endeavour and with the divines help, we remember what we really are and end the cycle.

So we didn't have freewill to begin with? if so freewill didn't last long according to your beliefs because we are stuck again. If we truly had freewill we could go back to source without jumping through all the dogmatic hoops. No?

It seems quite sadistic that an unconditional loving source would allow for such madness and multiple lifetimes, even if we did choose to be separate. Sounds kinda like the fallen angel in the Christian religion. lol

We should have a get out of jail card, so to speak, and be able to return without the excessive chaos and suffering.

I guess what it comes down to is there are so many dogmas and beliefs, in this world, and so many of them are laced with fear, and suffering to get back to a so called loving source.

Thanks

I agree. This is why I try to narrow my beliefs down to what I can experience and observe. I too look around me, and ask "What can be the purpose of so much pain and suffering? If God is so loving, why does S/He allow it? Why are there so many differrent beliefs, all claiming to be the right ones? If God is all-powerful, why doesn't S/He just make things the way S/HE wants, instead of this chaotic madness?", etc.

For example, I observe that awareness is almost universally rewarded. I observe that anything can happen, good or bad, to anyone at any time, though some seem to have a charmed life, and some seem to have a cursed life. I observe that those who ascend have transcended fear. I observe that God made the universe a certain way, so I must assume S/He wanted it that way, and so deduce things are the way they are for that reason, etc..

I look around me and all become clues to a vast puzzle, which frankly doesn't seem so puzzling if one just accepts what one sees and think it through. I believe that the universe is the 'Word of God', so take my clues from that.

Centered,

Why are we even here? A simple question, but so basic and relevant, that we might hesitate to attempt to answer. My two cents: We are here on a treasure hunt. I am reminded of the chorus of an old song....."I was lookin' for love in all the wrong places....Lookin' for love in too many faces....". Our 'treasure hunt' is the search for the divine.....that is the love that we are looking for whether we recognize it or not. Anytime that we find love(as we know and experience it in whatever form it takes) we can attest and acknowledge that it gives meaning to our lives. The ultimate source of love is the divine. In the microcosmic sense it is life-changing.....in the macrocosmic sense it is world-changing(as well as life-changing). This discovery of the divine and the journey to that discovery and its potential is why I believe we are even here.
