If you want to stick with spiritual safety then stick with I AM
We have a lot of options available to us. We can choose our path. We can choose to save ourselves. We can choose to love ourselves. That is the conventional path of self preservation.
The alternative is to say; never mind me, what about us? Or what about you?
We can choose to forget ourself and start to love God or others. There are many paths and many decisions to be made.
The path of self protection is I AM. We can choose to look after ourself.
The path of adventure and excitement is the path of loving others and God.
I AM is the conservative spiritual path. While loving others or God is the adventurous path.

You will have troubles that's for sure
You cannot love others if you don't love yourself. it is not real love.

The balanced path is best. A bit of both.

I kind of know what you mean Honza. Reminded me of this from Osho:
''My sannyasins have to become utter celebrants, absolutely mad in love with life. My sannyasins have to be singers and dancers. They have to fill the whole earth with song and dance -- that has to be their contribution to the world. They have to be creative, creators of beauty and love and joy. And these are ways to come closer to god.''

It is not two separate things. In my view balance means loving myself really, self-forgiving etc, the rest comes naturally.

Love the God within you as well. The journey starts within.
