Choosing your reincarnation

I wonder what happens to people who pass away and their soul or consciousness energy recycles.

Do they choose to be male or female in their next life or Karma chooses it for them despite of their actions caused by their previous life?

I'm interested to know your opinions and it may give diverse insights of what reincarnation works before incarnating again.

I believe the soul can choose what gender it may want to incarnate as despite the karma that may be there for the soul. But let's say if the soul has treated woman badly for many different incarnations the soul may want to become a woman and be treated the same way it did to other woman in past incarnations but that was the souls choosing to learn from it and get over its karma also. But it could be vice versa if they so choose as in become a male still but treated wrongly by females.

I believe a soul chooses it's way of life, hence the soul contract. At the same time, Karma is a thing of the past. Or it will be anyway. So if the soul goes back to a negative lifestyle for the human, it will be it's own choice.

Beyond physical life there is no time as we know it, no past n future. All is happening at the same time.

I believe that we designed our own lives during the live between lives period and we choose all the details like gengder, place, time etc and karma have an influence on our choices.
