what kind of malas do spirit guides recognize?

My mala broke and I have to restring it and I have a moonstone bracelet that broke a while back and I have always thought moonstone was the one thing missing from the mala. Everything happens for a reason right. I know that there are several different styles of malas, Zen, Tibetan etc. and that the number of beads plays a role too, the mala currently has black obsidian, labadorite, amethyst, citrine and a quartz pendant. I deeply wish to stay connected to my guides, if anyone could weight in on spiritual connection with guides or mala for spiritual connection, I would be forever grateful.

(day after)

I restrung the mala

The beads could not accommodate two strands of cord to allow knotting between, so unfortunately the mala no longer is knotted like it was before. The mala now still has the obsidian, labadorite, and citrine but I added moonstone, (but 2 of the moonstone are pendants and not beads). So to keep the bead count at (or around) 108 I took off the amethyst but I had also added three extra citrine beads to total 21 citrine and didn’t think to subtract 3 from the 48 obsidian. So now I have 21 moonstone, 21 labadorite, 21 citrine, and 48 obsidian to total 111 mala stones which isn’t the traditional mala number of 108, what does that mean though, is that bad? Side note the main pendant is a hexagon clear quartz.

Don't bother about the number of beads. Spirit guides love without counting

As for the stones, I would suggest going for what you like, not what you think or are told is good. Just make sure to cleanse your stones once in a while.

Your malas don't give you your connection to your Spirit Guides, but your mind thinks they do. What your malas do is put you into a certain mindset, in the way some people meditate or perform rituals. Your connection to your Guide is not in the mala itself but how your mind changes the vibrations of your consciousness to be able to receive/hear your Guides. You using your mala - even picking it up - for you is a ritual of sorts. You don't need the physical ritual but you may need the change of mindset/consciousness - which you can do when your focus is on yourself and not an external object.

Now that your mind perceives the mala as having been 'broken' and remade it thinks that you have lost your connection to your Guide because of it. You never lose your connection to your Guide although it can seem that way to you. Perhaps what the synchronicity of the breaking of the mala is that you don't need it any more, that you can 'internalise' the ritual by altering your mindset. As Timothy Leary said, "Turn on, tune in, drop out."

Spirit Guides don't recognise the malas per se, what they recognise is the actions of the 'preparations', they can see you getting your mala out and whatever else you do with it in your 'ritual'. It would work the same way if you put on some music and lit a candle.

I have a 108 bead Rudraksha mala...my spirit guide is Shiva...I chant Mahamrityunjaya Mantra..one round morning, one round evening. That is all I know for myself... don't really know how it is for anybody else.
