Once the solar plexus opened, I've experienced flu-like symptoms and dreams of floating above my body for the following week or so, and in the following months - synchronicities, sudden insights on the nature of the universe, increased intuition, brain fog, disorientation, hot/cold flashes, tingling in both legs, sharp pain piercing through the left side of the body, severe anxiety and fear I'm losing my mind, negative emotions, heart palpitations and panic attacks, the feeling of "a pressure in the head", craving certain foods (such as walnuts), perceiving various types of birds everywhere , shaking, unusual body poses and various sensations during meditation (as if being gently touched by someone/something), sound of waves (or something similar) during yoga a couple of times, symbolic dreams, etc. I wanted to list "telepathy" among the symptoms, but I have no means to prove whether it's real or simply my imagination. It often happens that I think a thought and then hear the person I'm speaking to say it out loud. Might be a coincidence though.

And there seems to be a peculiar cricket sound that appears every few months that I initially thought was coming from somewhere in the room, but I occasionally wonder if the origin of the sound is my left ear (can't prove this one either).

I was also struggling with a creative blockage for the past year or so and it's finally starting to clear out. Some of the verses or ideas I write down seem to carry either advice or symbols related to this journey. Can't say with certainty what chakra is being worked on at the moment, my guess is there's a strong blockage somewhere between heart and throat chakra.

Edit: I've been going through the thread and have a couple of questions: Some of you seem to mention higher beings and demonic entities (?), at what point in your journey did you experience these encounters? And is there a common age at which the awakening usually happens to a person?

Hi Intuire,

Welcome to the thread.

The symptoms you describe are indeed typical of Kundalini Awakening.

As for entities, they are real, but there is a lot of fearmongering from certain circles, most "spirits" are highly benevolent, neutral, in some cases tricksters and only very rarely malevolent.

With a risen Kundalini, you have opened yourself up to the Spirit world, so there will be some interaction with those life-forms that dwell in the unseen.

There is generally nothing to worry about, but be smart, you don't have to believe everything that you might hear from the spirit world and some spirits might have their own agendas. When you meet a truly benevolent being, in other words, a god or goddess, you will know. There is just no mistaking the incredible love, light, power and benevolence.

Also, things like constant synchronicities, telepathy and an outflow of artistic creativity are again normal and part of the process. You should also take note of the exact physical location of the head of the serpent as it rises, you should feel a blunt thud, or pressure at the appropriate chakra along the spine. The chirping sound might indicate the head of the serpent is already in the third eye area.

Anyways, if you have any questions, just shoot, thankfully a few people here have had similar experiences and we can share them on the forum.

Thank you both for the warm welcome and tips, this forum seems very welcoming in general. :)

As for the higher entities, when I first read about spirit guides, shortly after awakening, I asked for the name of mine and received a visual answer in my head. But there wasn't much contact after that, only synchronicities. I will probably have more questions in the future, so thank you again.

A few impressions copied from the poetry section ...

Much ado about the kundalini part-1

The third eye of Shiva!
Demons reduced to ash!
Ego seeking this power-enigma
That ascension it may encash

Beginning thus with a nebulous concept
Identity craving for Godlike enablement
Adopts yogic techniques suspect
To awaken kundalini from containment

Lucky then are those who fail
To prematurely arouse the serpent power
More oft than not we hear cries & wails
Of ill-timed fellow beings who in fear cower

Overawed by body instruments we forget
That the goal is about union of self with Self
Unless in purity of being we stand erect
We best put self-aggrandizement on the shelf

This preamble aside we now plot the path
Of the journey of kundalini from root to crown
Each nuance, each pulse a holy sabbath
In stillness we cognise, in inertia we drown

The foremost aspect to keep in mind
Is that we are entering unchartered waters
Thus all limited knowing we leave behind
Getting to the core of the energy that matters

It all begins (and ends) then with our heart
A yearning burning to connect with the divine
We know not the way or how to start
So in gentleness resistanceless we simply align

Let us liken this journey to a union with our lover
Our beloved who is asleep
In rippleless stillness we are ready to wait forever
For our twin flame to awake from sleep

Such is the determination and the loving resolve
Nullifying the impact of time
Hearts choosing to connect not a problem we solve
We simply surrender to our inner chime

***

Much ado about the kundalini part-2

As we then thus rest in dynamic stillness of innocence
Attentively watching with a loving longing
We detect ripples of thought as obstructive interference
Blocking us from with our lover entwining

Stilling not our stillness we now let stillness still our being
Lowering walls of resistance we open the door wide
Fearless & desireless simply love with love connecting
We look nonchalantly at ego blockages anchored inside

We begin with mind-body identification
Attachments, fears & desires that holds us captive
Recognising that we are much more than seeming limitation
We plunge into the void igniting a spark reactive

The kundalini then begins to awake!
Stretching and yawning setting aside its long slumber
It then has three pathways it may take
Ida, Pingala and the Sushumna central funnel wonder

As is said, well begun is half done
So it is wise to be forewarned of obstructions we may face
Unless residual fears in our subconscious are not undone
We may be denied the elixir of divine grace

The root is the wheel of Brahma connected to the ground
That which binds us in linear time
So unless we throw caution to the winds to connect beyond
We cannot begin our journey to entwine with the divine sublime

The next bridge offers choice between love and lust earthy
The Swadishtana a trial that trips the high & mighty
Then we approach fearful association with identity
Courage resolute setting us free from the imaginary entity

Having dealt with the Manipura focusing in resolve and courage
We approach the heart wherefrom we began our journey
A spacial domain of nonjudging love and wisdom of the sage
We are welcomed therein as a prodigal son and make merry

As we rest awhile at the Anahata spacial and boundless
We draw in our identity now vibrating at higher frequency
Feeling light as air ego feels an undefined restlessness
Choosing to ascend abandoning all residual delinquency

Domain of matter now assimilated we shift into the ethereal
The Vishuddha a connector between form and formlessness
Only those who are pure of heart may feel the appeal
Of the unity between all manifestations of the That Absoluteness

The Vishuddha in connecting with the Universe requires embrace
Devoid of narrowness and fearfulness ego borne
The pure of heart alone unhesitatingly rely fully upon divine grace
With residual egoism, vicarious knowing and memory imagery shorn

***

Much ado about the kundalini part-3

Having thus mapped out the pathless path untrodden before
We work with gusto & zeal at inner cleansing
In thought and word and deed, embracing all, keeping no score
We replace narrow thought with loving feeling

Then we wait
For as long as it does take
At an easy gait
For our lover within to awake

Yes ... the kundalini stirring and standing erect
Follows the Sushumna path of least resistance
But if our purity of being be clouded or suspect
It tilts to Ida or Pingala as of pranic preference

The Ida cool with left nostril open offers a fragrant rose
However the Pingala solar is akin to a dragon breathing fire
Now during the ascent the kundalini may retire back in repose ...
if facing a blockage on the lunar path; for solar, consequences are dire

We may liken the kundalini to love with love yearning for union
The Ida persuasive makes her calm whilst Pingala is fervour burning
It is the Sushumna centred that is the direct path for instantaneous fusion
Thus as we are, so we become and hence importance of inner cleansing

Taking the direct path, the chakras up to Vishuddha all celebrate
Thereafter the energy enters the void of the Brahman head domain
The Sahasrara said to have a thousand petals and each we must placate
Upon kundalini reaching the door of her lover, she volunteers to be slain!

***

Much ado about the kundalini part-4

No! It is not a tragedy of love unfulfilled! Let us see why ...
Upon kundalini reaching the crown, it encounters a narrow orifice
A stream divine and subtle flowing through it into the sky
Kundalini must die, dissolving in the current, spake a divine voice!

By now we have realised that we ourselves are the energy
Initially asleep, inert and sedentary
Yet wishing to become infinity
Thus singularity calling duality beaming us back to unity

Upon choosing death over dishonour we plunge into the current
Dissolving our identity in totality
Form dissolved yet strangely we remain aware and cognisant
Entering into space in wholeness and interconnectivity

Within the vibrant void of oneness awareness
We are the wholeness of Absoluteness with love our attire
We be to become a co-creator in loving kindness
Yet centred in the spacial vastness we choose to retire

Back to form we sense a consciousness shift beginning
The colouration of love present as bubbling joy & empathy
Manifesting as a magnetic current within tingling
All energy centres resonating joy in harmony

It would seem that the journey has reached a conclusion
But as we know every ending is a new beginning
So as the hues divine transition to bliss and compassion
We cognise the enigmatic heart gently singing!

***

Much ado about the kundalini part-5

As deepening silence and stillness become our fulcrum
We cognise an energy grid dividing form vertically
We flow with awareness at the pivot of the pendulum
Whilst witnessing the meridian coming to life magically!

Our attention now internalised unendingly meditating
We feel all chakras resonating with the life force
Frequency of each node varying and yet blending
With the reverberation ॐ emanating from the source

Slowly becoming empty within with the pulse of love we align
Boundaries between form and formlessness begin to blend
Our emptiness rich in fullness of elixirous magnetism divine
The residual ego we have now pliable begins to bend

The soma nectar flow increases in potency as of our worship
It is irrelevant to speculate or debate as to its origin
The upper ovoid of Ajna-Sahasrara-Bindu combine in partnership
To enrich our being with vitality and tranquility sanguine

In timeless time the Universe opts to reactivate & renew
The fused unity of kundalini seated at the crown humming
Thus Hiranyagarbha, the cosmic egg splits into two
Shiva & Shakti descend into their abode in heart entwining

Following the union there is then an explosion in slow motion
Teleporting us into climaxical ecstasy & rapture ineffable
The omnipotent burst of power manifesting as bliss celebration
Root to crown ignited & alive as the rod of initiation! A miracle!

The blissful energy benign and yet roaring with full power
It seems that fragile form cannot contain the energy
Yet the gentle curve of unfolding the divine grace shower
Aligns all lifetrons within in beauteous synergy

Energy heightened at chakra zones and alive throughout the grid
Unknown centres and nadis open up as we look on in wonder
In acceptant doerless childlike simplicity we just do as we are bid
Being to become one with bliss in permanence; the soundless thunder!

This phase of consolidation becomes an embodiment of our being
Bliss within always ceaselessly purring
From time to time as of choiceless choice it begins roaring
Be it day or night, such is is-ness of blossoming

Thus we see that at the heart we began
With a simple burning yearning
Give kundalini any name, it’s power Brahman spans
Finally within the cave of heart humming

***

Sushumna

Hirayanyagarbha one becoming two
That in its own reflection may renew
A pulsation holographic across space
Illusion of time measuring loves pace

The head ovoid throbbing with potential
Entwined with hearts radiance spherical
Fuse in celebration creating an explosion
Divine magnetic thunderous bliss elation

The integral wholeness of love & power
Manifests within an ecstatic bliss shower
A pulse of life in continuation renewing
Zenith of rapture as a climax unending

Thus Sushumna funnel empty & dormant
Is vivified by the divine elixir ever present
Upon union of polarities within the Anahata
Permanently enlivening the erect Sushumna

The central conduit a living rod of initiation
Powered by the Gurus grace as benediction
Maturity the cessation of linear movement
We be to become throbbing bliss permanent

Simplified summary

Thus beginning at heart as pure loving intent
Kundalini moves from root to crown in ascent
Cajoles her lover at the crown of the Sahasrara
To descend & culminate their union at Anahata

Thus igniting with rapturous bliss the Sushumna

It would appear that whilst awakening may be full & spontaneous in rare cases, the slow path has (at least) a three wave assimilation of kundalini, after it reaches the Sahasrara and then upon male/female polarities balancing descends to the heart chakra, exploding in bliss in permanence, stablizing in turn within the (three?) conduits within conduits of what we call the Sushumna. Perhaps this is the allusion in certain texts to ‘rod of initiation’ or ‘staff of power’.

It would seem reasonable to assume that the chakras too have a similar 3-tier maturing/blossoming.

These views are based primarily from direct realisation, validated by Kashmir Shaiva texts I’ve read, although I’d allow that there may be an inbuilt lower mind interpretation assuming some of this.

Views and inputs welcome, as always, even if at variance.

Hi US,

Interesting theory, but can you provide more detail? Is there anything in Kashmir Shaivic texts you mentioned, that would give us a clue?

My own perspective is this:

Movement is towards non-duality, so everything fuses together and distinctions fade with time. In the end, there is just white light (white, because it contains all of the colours of the spectrum, so it is a fusion, non-dual light so to speak, where there is no longer a distinction or spectrum).

I notice that everything, but people in particular are sheathed in white light when I allow Shakti to suffuse my being and shine her light on everything and everyone around me.

Yes, the light is white, as and when it is cognised. In my case, I do not have the ‘advantage’, so to speak, of being connected in conscious mind with a higher aspect of Shakti, as in a direct or vibrational visual. Yet whenever the light spontaneously appears in periphery of active awareness, it is a soft yet brilliant white in colour.

As for the Agamas, a book* (* The Manual for self realisation: Vijnana Bhairava Tantra) by a leading Shaiva exponent, Lakshmanjoo (who crossed over, I think in 1996) speaks of three aspects of kundalini, correspondent to the tantra trika of para (highest), para-para (intermediate) and apara (lowest). Basically, lowest being Prana kundalini, which most of us experience, next Cit or limited consciousness kundalini and highest (said to be virtually unattainable in bodily form) God consciousness kundalini. It kind of makes sense, if we consider all existence to be holographically replicated in each atom ... the hermetic Kybalion theory of ‘as above, so below’.

There is a direct reference to this somewhere in the video (of Swami Khecaranatha) https://youtu.be/QPBktToBu1o as well.

Now, in direct experience, I’d affirm that the Sushumna is ignited with bliss in permanence, following 1) the ascent of kundalini to Sahasrara 2) balancing of male/female energies in form (can be unnerving) and 3) union of polarities or Shiva & Shakti in the Anahata. The bliss is then permanent and the entire Sushumna is radiant with bliss (and light). Thereafter, there is no kundalini movement, having so stabilised, although each chakra may be infused with divine energy automatically from time to time, as of need.

Thanks, I'll have to watch that lecture when i have a bit of free time...

I remember Gopi Krishna writing about some of the changes in his body regarding the Kundalini transformation. After a while, there were no individual chakras or nadis, they basically all fused into one, with some interesting physiological side-effects. I don't remember his exact description, but it was something like if one little part of his body was affected in some way, his whole body reacted to it, including when taking medicine. Various compounds and even foods had a very different effect on him than on an ordinary person and he had to experiment extensively with different foods and chemical compounds to see what would be tolerated by his body and what wouldn't be.

He also saw everything in a white sheen, shining brightly, which came from his inner radiance. Schizophrenics experience a similar neurological effect (everything seems much brighter than usual), but in their case it is pathological, rather than spiritual.

In continuation to #771, by ‘predictable’ synchronicity, I chanced to read about the three aspects* (*for want of a better word) of kundalini in another book, ‘Kundalini Tantra’ by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. So I’ve penned it in my own words:

Tantra trika trinity signals perfect geometry
So we have the Sushumna, Vajrini & Chitrini
Three concentric conduits erect & vertical
Each inner casing for energies more subtle

I mention this in passing as general information, since we must eventually rely upon our own direct experiences only, to wisen to the actual significance.
