Favourite Gathas/Verses

Please add your favourite verses...
Here are a few of mine...
Peace & blessings,

Meal Gatha

1st 72 labours brought us this food
we should know how it comes to us
2nd as we receive this offering
we should consider
whether our virture and practise deserve it
3rd as we desire the natural order of mind
to be free from clinging
we must be free from greed
4th to support our life we take this food
5th to attain our way we take this food
1st this food is for the 3 Treasures
2nd it is for our teachers, parents, nation,
And all sentient beings
3rd it is for all beings in the 6 worlds
Thus we eat this food with everyone
We eat to stop all evil, to practise good,
To save all sentient beings
And to accomplish our Buddha Way.

Evening Gatha

Let me respectfully remind you
Life and death are of supreme importance
Time swiftly passes by, and opportunity is lost
Each of us should strive to awaken......
Take heed. Do not squander your life.

the mind

The buddha and all sentient beings
are nothing but the expressions of the one mind
there is nothing else

Regard him as one, who points out treasure,
the wise one who seeing your faults rebukes you.
Stay with this sort of sage
For the one who stays with the sage of this sort,
things get better, not worse.
