i don't deny any of the physiology/biology to these conditions. But there are questions - the exact physiology is unclear, & differs a lot across different cases. What are the causes/aetiology for the brain differences? Why do some people fully recover medication free? & what are the best approaches to treat people with these conditions/experiences?
Even informed orthodox professionals will say 50% is physiology & 50% is environmental, & take a bio/psycho/social view.

While largely seen as a supportive mechanism, there are indications that spirituality and religion may, in some cases, pose challenges for patients who are already medically compromised.
However, the general consensus on this topic seems to be that “by ignoring the spiritual dimension of health, for whatever reason, we may be depriving ourselves of the leverage we need to help empower individuals and populations to achieve improved physical, social, and mental health” (Vader 2006)

The metaphysical/spiritual views/understandings on madness are largely missing from the orthodox/mainstream dialogue -

I am in agreement that mental health treatment and understandings is far too myopic. It is a long story, I do think there are spiritual aspects in this life theme. The sites you posted are good reads. Thanks.
One thing I noticed some years ago is that she is very addicted to sugar. So, I did research and learned:

Diet/orthomolecular medicine/nutritional etc areas are massive & complex.
i take an integral/holistic view - mind/body/soul/spirit - spirit, soul/psyche & physical - i don't see anything here as either/or - you can't rationally separate biology from psychology & environment.
There is also a massive question mark over the age long mind/brain debate -

yea, that area is complex. all of it is really, at least to me. my dad worked for the county mental health and retired from it. one thing he told me that i am in agreement with is that people with schizophrenia have a great ability with belief. one person actually cured themselves from cancer, just because they didn't believe they had it. my dad was witness to this. i have been witness to my daughters experiences with belief. it is a very powerful tool that seems strongest with those who are labeled as schizophrenics. thanks again for the article. i did sign up for the newsletter Alchemy Realm. Lots of good info there.

Well, i don't have any categorical answers to it all, & i don't think that anyone does. i do however think that there could be far more humane treatment of the Mad, but i suppose the mental health system/psychiatry is a direct reflection of general society & it's overall advancement & civility.

If that is what works for you then all well & good. i'm Not very keen on religions. i don't follow any specific religion/system. About the best i've found for me has been the inter life research (also some of the NDE/OBE & consciousness research/areas), & a basic/gentle mindfulness practise. i've read/researched a lot of stuff; comparative religion, philosophy, esoteric/occult areas - all sorts. i don't have any categorical answer/opinion - i suppose a lot i see as existential/experiential - i have my own path, truth & Being.
