Gorillas in the mist

Here's a small tribute to this brave and wonderfull women who protected and cared for the gorilla's enough to even die for them

Her love and devotion permitted many gorilla's to live when they were destined to die

(I tried to share the true picture of her but for some reason, id does not work)

Her story was written about and a movie was made

Here's a shot from the movie called :"gorillas in the mist" featuring Sigourney Weaver:

She was my hero.

That film made such a huge impression on me as a child. Diane was a true inspiration. I really appreciate all the work being done around the world to save all species, but particularly the great apes. They are such amazing, ancient creatures and I don't want to have to imagine a world without them. <3 <3

I read the book and saw the movie and both were inspiring. When someone says the world is going to heck in a handbasket I point out people like Dian Fossey.

There are many, many people who are selfless and giving in this world.

This is a very interesting story. Animal lovers like her is rare with this generation. Where demand exists, supply will meet it. Some people demand they have dinosaur fossils, which leads to the interesting underworld of fossil smuggling. One of the more significant examples in recent memory is the case of Erik Prokopi of Florida, who could face up to 17 years for smuggling and selling a complete Tarbosaurus skeleton.

A wonderful lady.

And 'Gorillas In The Mist' is a wonderful film - one of my all-time favourites.

What a beautiful picture. A touching display of love and trust, between human and animal. (How it should be.)
